First snow for Harley(13) and Brittany(8). Rare occurrence here in Gulf Coast Texas. Harley figured it out pretty quickly. Brittany has only had one little pee all day. She doesn't seem to be in distress, though. I've been taking them out every couple hours. Hoping she figures it out before she has to go in the house.149218677_3791359727606357_3462446891429799567_n (resized).jpg

That’s so damn cool. Wow, unbelievable weather once in a lifetime for those dogs. Enjoy!
Quoted from electricsquirrel:A word of caution when giving your dog marrow bones...…..
We used to do it all of the time until this happened:
A trip to the vet and $180.00 later, all was fine.
It really freaked out the dog, and I couldn't even get near him to try and remove it.

That's nuts! Thank you for sharing.
We make sure that the marrow bones we give our dogs are 6 inches long minimum. And if they begin to crack or break....we throw them out.

It's the opposite over here . It's been very hot in the last 2 days . I've seen 2 tiger snakes and 2 eastern brown snakes ,with the hot weather they're all coming out .

LOL@ "regal af"!

My dogs are also big crumb snatchers. They will eat just about anything...except cashews. I love cashews and enjoy them frequently, but for some reason none of my dogs will touch them when they fall.
Quoted from Bohdi:Couple of Huskies! Wish i had some of those next door. Yukon would like that

Here’s some action footage for you. My dog is a nut But I could watch these shenanigans all day

LOL, hysterical! They want that fence gone so bad!
Quoted from yzfguy:LOL, hysterical! They want that fence gone so bad!
Oh I know. They are constantly biting at the chain link I’m going to see if my neighbors are cool with getting them together in the spring for play dates
Quoted from JayDee:Here’s some action footage for you. My dog is a nut But I could watch these shenanigans all day
Kind of makes you want to add a "doggy door" in the fence

Haha. That tail! I have some friends that were close with their neighbors and took down the fence that divided their yards so their dogs could play a lot.
I need to ask everyone a question:
Im sorry to be so abrupt, but i talked to my family tonight about the possibility of having a taxidermist taking care of my oldest dog in the future. He is not dying, but he is a bigger dog with a shorter life span and the best dog i have ever had. I would like to have him preserved when he passes away. He is very important to me, but my family thinks this is silly...which hurts my feelings.
What should i say to them??
Quoted from Daditude:What should i say to them??
What if you go first ? Will they have you stuffed to keep the dog company ?
LTG : )

I hope that isnt the case, but he is in my will...so he will be taken care of regardless.

Nothing says you love someone like desecrating their corpse.

Have you seen the process involved in doing that .
I couldn't bare the thought of that happening to one of my dogs .
Quoted from KnockerPTSD:Nothing says you love someone like desecrating their corpse.
I dig a hole as deep as I can and then cherish their memory forever .

It’s clearly none of their business, but I would never do this to one of my dogs.
This has to be your choice it is so personal but for me I would not do it. I lay mine to rest and cherish those moments we shared together.
IMHO, that's beyond creepy. I don't really enjoy looking at a taxidermied deer, never mind a member of my family

Please tell me you're kidding.

Taxidermy is a way of life here in Texas. I guess we have a different view of it. I have a friend who's uncle has a hunting lodge with a couple of his old hunting dogs taxidermied (is that a word?). He has it as a tribute. It looks incredible. He is the last person you would expect to memorialize his animals, but he clearly loved them. He got a little choked up about it when i asked him about them the first time i saw them.
Couldn't imagine stuffing a departed animal. , lost my dog on Nov 6,2020 and he's still in my thoughts daily. Couldn't fathom looking at a shell of my dog on a daily basis as it wouldn't come close to missing his soul ... more parts to my animals than their shell...
Lastly just to creepy!

Sorry for your loss, @transprtr4u. My opinion about stuffed dogs is however that if it makes you happy, @daditude, you should go for it. Thats what matters. I dont think its creepy. We're all different due to different cultural customs.

I have their ashes on a mantle and i had some ashes mixed into the black ink in my tattoos. Carbon is carbon.
