Quoted from Who-Dey:

my animals sleep with me if they want

We used to let our dachshund (Dewey) sleep in our bed,
but since he is getting old and our new kingsize bed sits high off the ground,
he sleeps in his own dog bed close to ours.
The fear is if he jumps off the bed, he may injure his back.
Besides there is no room for him anymore what with our six cats
that do sleep on the bed with us most nights.

Quoted from Who-Dey:

I let my animals sleep with me if they want also. I can’t believe how many people frown upon this when I tell them and they just think it’s terrible to let a dog in the bed. They can think whatever they want, he’s my buddy and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The dogs are allowed on the bed and the couch, but only when invited. They don't generally sleep with us at night (it's way too hot unless one of us is away), but they frequently cuddle up to me when I have a nap on the couch, bed, hammock, floor, etc.

Understand totally. You got to be careful with a Dashounds spine for sure. Great dogs though. I have a friend that had to have spine surgeries on two dashounds, cost him a fortune. The surgeries were successful though thankfully.

My new dog won't lay in bed long because he's young and has ants in his pants and can't sit still for over 10 seconds usually. I think he likes jumping on and off the bed more than anything.

My old dog would lay in there for hours with me, I enjoyed it truthfully.

Labs are the best dogs ever. The only reason that i didn't get a lab is because they shed so bad. They are my favorite dogs though hands down.

We used to do the dogs on the furniture thing. Decided furniture is for people now, and no more dog hair on the back of your shirt at work is working out pretty nicely

I'm always lying on the floor cuddling with the dog, but the beds and couches are off limits.

Nothing wrong with that and it also depends on what kind of furniture you have too. If you have leather furniture animals will destroy it.

This is Billy. A 13,5 years old Bordercollie. A perfect family dog. Although he is getting old I hope we can enjoy him for many years to come.

He probably has some time left yet, he looks pretty healthy. He's a beautiful dog. When i was a kid back in the late 60's early 70's it seemed like every family had a Collie, and now you never see them at all seems like. They are such great family dogs, I'm not sure how or why that has happened.

Thanks. Here in The Netherlands the Bordercollie is still a popular dog. And yes, they are great family dogs. Always ready to play, but they can also be very calm. Nostalgia:

Those are nice pictures and definitely pictures you want to keep forever. My neighbor when I was a kid had a Collie and she was definitely the neighborhood dog, everybody loved her. She has been dead probably 40-45 years now but I still have memories of her today just as strong as ever and I will never forget how special of a dog she was. My neighbor lady that owned her is still alive and we still talk about Bunny all if the time like she just died a year ago or something. They never got another dog after she died either because it broke their hearts so much.

We fostered a Husky cross recently. Wow. That was some hair. So much cleaner now he's been adopted.

You should see my house. Tumbleweeds all over the hardwood, forget wearing anything black ever again or anything made from fleece. Also never get anything but leather for car interior. Haha

Roomba does a pretty decent job on hard floors. Does it more often than I do too.

I have a Basset Hound and he doesn’t shed much at all really. Labs are my favorite dogs and Basset Hounds are my second favorite probably. I actually passed on getting a Lab because they shed so bad that it’s not even funny, and I just don’t have time to clean after one the way that I work. I had a lab about 7-8 years ago and I still find her hair occasionally lol. Like Chuckwurt said, tumbleweeds!

My daughter brought her boyfriends puppy to our house for a week. She is Rottweiler/Husky and man is she cute, like a stuffed toy with teeth like razor blades. I forgot what a pup is like as we are still cleaning up poop. We couldn't take her outside enough. We took her about once an hour but it was still everywhere. She refused to go out the dog door but she knew how to come in it. I would still keep her though. I love puppies.

#1124 6 years ago

This is Abbie. She’s more of a muppet than a dog.

I just deleted 612 photos of the dogs (and foster dogs) off my phone. They're all backed up in the cloud though.

Picking up a new foster today in about 2 hours. Very excited.

So not sure if anyone else does this but we started making our own natural jerky treats. I got tired of reading ingredients that I had no idea what they even are. So i googled foods that are good for dogs. This is the second batch I made. 6 Lbs of treats for under $10 and 2 days using the dehydrator. They are like crack to him. He hears the zip lock baggie open and he comes running. Should last a few months. Here's my latest recipe.

2 large boneless chicken breasts. Raw
8 apples
2 large sweet potatoes. Cooked.
2 cups of peas. Cooked.
1 cup of carrots. Cooked.
1 tbsp of pink salt.
1/4 cup of Hemp Hearts.
1/2 cup of Cornmeal.
2 tbsp fresh honey.
1 to 2 cups of water.

Throw everything in a blender or food processor and puree it up. We used a dehydrator but oven works also. Place plastic wrap on the trays and spread out puree to about 1/2 inch thick. 10 to 12 hrs later, Treats!

Here's Jimi waiting patiently as I throw them into ziplocks this morning.20171216_072923.jpg20171216_072923.jpg

To be honest, hopefully not. Dogs are not gifts.

You don’t think someone giving their kids a puppy for Christmas and seeing their kids eyes light up isn’t a great gift? Sorry but I disagree totally with you on that.
