There was a hefty "retirement" fee, but totally worth it. We have adopted 5 of these over the years, if my lap was bigger they would be great lap dogs!

Awesome

Our dog Belle goes everywhere with us. But now she's 12. She still has some puppy spunk during the winter, but on our hot summer RV trips she doesn't want to do much of anything. What to do?

We got a Christmas outfit for Brittany and surprisingly, she didn't seem to mind it. I don't really like dog clothes but my wife picked it up at the dollar store for a couple bucks and it provided a good laugh for the family on Christmas morning. IMG_1365 (resized).JPGIMG_1365 (resized).JPG

I've owned a lot of dogs... Beagle was the baddest, chewed every corner of the house up and loved to run away all the time. Had a Pekinese mixed with Cocker Spaniel that was around the longest, real chill and cool, rescued from someone. Also got a Siberian Husky someone needed a home for, but it got stolen from me, found it, recovered it, and the same people stole it again so I just gave up. Then I got an Akita, another cool dog but the furry hair everywhere was hard to deal with sometimes. And my new favorite is the Dachshund. Just lost one to IVDD / Myelomalacia but on the hunt for another one anyway.

Beagles are infamous escape artists and notorious for wandering and losing their way.

I miss these 2 so much. Both rescues that were abused big time. Turned out to be 2 of the best members of our family. All they wanted was love. And a bone!

That's awesome man
I rescued my dog too!
We have an understanding....
I like him and he likes me, (my wife, not so much, as she is a cat person, he likes her, but I don't think it's mutual)
He makes me feel great, no matter what my work day has been like, I always walk into uncontrolled excitement and kisses
One time I asked him if he missed me, and it really sounded like he responded with umm,hmm
Dogs are the best!!!!

I think this is by far my favorite thread here on pinside!! Love seeing all the pups! Dogs are better then most people I know.

#688 7 years ago

A somewhat dated photo of me and my pup Oscar at the vet (Dec 2015). I get stressed when my pups have to endure any form of pain; they live such short lives and reward us with such great companionship it ain't fair. Fortunately this was just a routine tooth cleaning (but put him out for it) and he did just fine.

Our little guy is terrified of loud noises especially fireworks and thunder. He starts to pant and tremble during all thunderstorms. We've tried using a thunder shirt, xanax prescribed by the vet, building him a little tent home to hide in but nothing seems to work other than taking him into the basement and playing pinball. He lays under the machines and after about 10-20 minutes he calms down.

As I type this, our beautiful Corgi, Scooter, is gravely ill.
The vet thinks it may be cancer, but we're not sure.
Another battery of tests is well out of our budget, and I fear it is too late anyway.
Today my wife takes him to another vet for an assessment.

I am not a religious person, but now I would appreciate your prayers.

Thank you!

Eric

You looking to get owned by a American or European breed? My dobie before Sy was a Euro and she was huge, 110lb monster. Sy's a American show breed from Dancing Star, he'll probably be about 95lbs full grown.

Hit me up if you need any advice on ear posting, breeders, and most importantly please research the DCM disease that plauges 60% of the breed. Dont buy from a BYB, this breed needs rigorous health testing done to try to keep the breed healthy and BYB are not doing this there only in it for the money not love of the breed.

#696 7 years ago

I had a stroke and three brain surgeries recently. I have never had a dog but love them. I am going to get a town home, then perhaps a dog. I am very partial to pit bulls, I love them. I am probably getting one.

I have to wait until I am just a bit better, for the dog. Too bad. I could use it now. But I had better wait for a bit. Right now I couldn't even walk a dog. I don't think it's fair to get a dog now, to the dog. Even though I could benefit greatly from it now.

I guess I'm torn. I wish I had a dog, but I have to wait. It's the right thing to do overall.

I am getting a pit bull because I like them so much, and I would possibly
Like a rescue. I also am getting one because I can.

Pit bulls are seriously maligned out here in California. No pit bulls in rentals. But when I buy f you to anyone I'm getting a pit. I have to do a little research on rescues though. May just have to be a puppy.

I also enjoy the pit as protection. Just try to break in my house fool. But I have grown up around pits there really is no other breed for me.

Pit bulls for the win!

Just do not let the pin be a Stern Lightning or WMS Flash or BLY Voltan (Escape from Cosmic Doom) or BLY Firecracker or SkyRocket.

Prayers sent for Scooter

Quoted from Azmodeus:

Pits are cool as long as the owner is cool,
if a owner is a D-bag
then unfortunately the pit will tend to reflect that.
Hope you find a nice pit pup soon.

That was actually his predecessor back in 2010 (a lab/goldie), still alive and well but lost custody of him to the ex. I have some fun pictures of that lab I'll dig out and post in here one day.

My dog Max is a crazy. He always loves running outside in any kind of weather and comes back covered in some gross stuff sometimes. Last night he came back covered in something that can only be described as smelling like the Elephant house at the zoo was on fire. haha. Immediately wiped him off best I could, washed all towels I used and threw him in the car to take him to the pet store up the street that has amazing self serve dog showers.
