    Quoted from Pinballlew:

Ok I am going to give this a go tonight with my wife...I will report back my results.

Awesome! Make sure to put your arm around each other, this helps so that you can both be in front of the machine, and then send a bunch of bounce and post passes her way and I bet she'll have more fun with it than she ever had playing alone.

    #352 6 years ago

I have had a BK for almost 20 years and she was never into it, then I picked up an HH, still nothing, then I bought an LOTR and boom. Now she will play the LOTR and sometimes the HH. We will even go to Pincrossing at Railroad St in Linfield, PA and play.

    Quoted from ziz:

Mine loves to play and encourages me to buy more machines. We play tandem a lot (one person on each flipper), this is a great way to get someone more interested because you are having fun together and they only have to worry about one flipper at a time. It is also a better way to show them how to play without explicitly telling them what to do. They will see the flipper skills you are using and can try to mimic you. It is the easiest way to introduce them to the rules of the game as well since you can tell them what you are shooting for and why, when they are playing with you it makes a lot more sense for them. Once they get more familiar with the shots on one side you can switch sides. We play this way when we go out to the arcade and we get comments from people about how cute it is, definitely a more appealing experience for a lot of women I would think.

    F-Ing brilliant idea!

    #354 6 years ago

Split flipper is the only way we play. Was going to start a split flipper video thread in the "basement" last week but we got distracted. Guess shirts will be required.

Here is my mom and my wife playing today. My mom loves EMs and competing. The wife wants to play alone, she had me put LOTR on 10-ball tonight. She almost destroyed the ring....

This reminds me of kind of girls I used to hang out with. And there were plenty of them. No cell phones to distract them. I'm not sure I want to know where any of them are now.

Apparently too, 'no glove, no love.'
    LOL!

Contrary to whatever preconceived notions may be about women and pinball, I am that girl.

Awesome! I'm curious what got you into pinball and decided to buy your own game? Visit a barcade, ex pinhead, dad who had games?

Mine only plays when we are at a pub that has games. Rarely does she play at home and never starts a game by herself.

My boyfriend introduced me to the hobby. I have enjoyed it with him ever since. We have met an incredible number of amazing people just by travelling to shows and other collectors homes together. I really like certain types of artwork, history, and making games look new as well, so I think we just have similiar interests. Buying a game became a personal goal, but I really wanted to understand how pinball machines worked and how to keep them running first. That is how I ended up choosing my first game, an EM, which was simpler to understand, and as I found out later, it was the same game Roger Sharpe "called the shot" which made it even more special.

Someday I may own my dream game, Paragon.

    #361 6 years ago

Paragon! Someday I want a paragon too.

    Watch the playing field level!

I meant watch the competition disappear. Most are not ready for paragon.

    Paragon loves me.

Mine does but doesn't want to admit it. I was having some mates around to have a few beers and games. Look what I find when I returned from getting some beers for the night.
To make it even better, it's the game that she says I only like for two great big reasons.

Yes she is a member here too.
I haven't clocked it yet. Not for the want of trying.
She can pull down a MPF in DR who and rebuild it quicker than I can.

I'm lucky to have a wife who enjoys a lot of the same things as I do. She plays quite a bit and will even mention stopping at the local comic book store during date night so we can play other titles. She enjoys our games at home, but I can tell she really enjoys some of the newer games at the comic book store, she seems to really enjoy MM, TOM, and GB.

My wife playing with the Queen crown on that our three year old made for her. She would only play about once a month for a couple of games before we bought GoT. We play for a couple of hours a few times a week against each other now. We both love that game.

It's amazing what you can do when a $250k+ debt is gone, and you don't have to worry about it anymore. She stuck with me through it all. She is the most amazing woman I have met, and the best thing in my life here on earth.

I love the look on Aria's face as Jessica is putting on that leg - almost like "wtf???". We used a HF lift table for this game - OMG - am I glad I got one of those. Lveling the game was SO much easier with it.

Yeah i bet the lift table really helps. GOT Pro is a really good game and a definite keeper. If you havent already done so, check out Chuckwurts 5 stream GOT tutorial. It will really help you understand all of the rules of the game and how to score big etc. Its the best GOT tutorial on the internet by far.

What a difference a year can make in a persons life though huh? Your story just goes to show you that a person should never give up! Im happy for you!!!

My wife is very supportive and will always help, although after multiple games coming in and out our conversation is more like this:

Me, from the basement: "hey honey, can you come down here for a second?"
Wife: "are you about to drop a game?"
    Me: "...yes..."
    Wife: "...idiot, fine..."

    Enjoy it together man!

    #389 6 years ago

    It
's our time together after work. Can talk about our day as we play. Does not mater if I win or lose. Am a lucky guy!
