Hi all, I have a (possibly dumb) question: Does the magnetic field from flipper coils affect the trajectory of the ball?

I got my first machine this week, Funhouse. While playing I noticed that the ball sometimes deviates from what I would have thought was a 'normal' trajectory, e.g. it might slow down more than I'd expect -- it is subtle by sometimes noticeable. I thought that there must be magnets that are there to affect the trajectory of the ball, but I've read there are no magnets on this table. I opened it up and verified that there are none there.

The only thing that I thought could cause this is the magnetic field from the flipper coils. I was wondering if this is the case, and if so is this is normal? Thanks for helping a noob!

No. The magnetic field is generated inside the coil windings. Sounds like you may have raised inserts or the ball is spinning fast enough to produce 'english' on its movements.

Agreed, if there is a lingering magnetic field the balls are the culprits.
