I've just discovered the weirdest thing with a bracket for my Bally Dixieland (I'll have to remember to take a pic & post it here), that I must replace with a proper bracket. I'd prefer to just buy one outright rather than sift through eBay listings and try & figure out if the bracket is proper.

Hard to help without knowing exactly what you're looking for. Do you have a part # and photo? The old Bally parts catalog are online, so it shouldn't be too hard to look up.

OK, it appears that the bracket's original 2 insert cuts are fine, just with another hole on top, and with the clip holding the coil having a 3rd hole in it. The length from the front of the bracket, where the coil will rest on, to the insert holes centerline is 1-3/4. The small clip has the distance of 5/16" from the place where the coil is set to the holes centerline, meaning that the coil should have a length of 1-7/16. Unfortunately, the coil measures 1-17/32, and thus too long for the standard brackets & clips. Oh, and that coil is Gottlieb one! So what I will need is the proper Bally coil the the clip that holds it in. I'll stiff have an ugly extra hole drilled on the bracket, but it doesn't interfere with the regular use of the proper coil.
