Why is this so hard to find?

#2 10 years ago

Anyone have any ideas other than eBay? Could someone post the measurements of the thing? Maybe I could ge the plastic part made...

Any luck finding one of these? I just broke mine tonight and looking for a replacement.

#4 10 years ago

Do you have any calipers? Still needing the length, width, height, and thickness. I still think I have the ability to make these...

#5 10 years ago

I was looking for a spare I thought I had to measure for you. I threw my back out so getting under the playfield and pulling mine isn't an option for a few days but I will do it if needed.

#6 10 years ago

I would be potentially interested in one of these as well. Mine isn't destroyed but it has been bashed pretty bad and has some nasty marks all over it. Let me know how you make out.

Thanks! Whenever you're up to it, I'd appreciate it. Hope your back heals quickly for you

I have an extra one and calipers. I won't have a chance to get measurements until tomorrow at the earliest.

It looks like a bondo scraper. Just cut one down and drill a hole.

Thanks for those Eric_S! Got question for you, PMed ya.

regular size one works just fine for this, at a 1/10 of the cost

#13 10 years ago

were on ebay for $75 a piece! Yikes!!!

It's my understanding that the taper makes a big difference here. Supposedly the plain target can cause the ball to launch upward into the Death Star, thereby breaking another no longer available plastic.

To the original poster, I have a broken target as well so if you need anything please let me know.

Hey Eric,
If the rivot just broke I can likely rivot it back on to the switch.

#16 10 years ago

The plastic part that holds to the rivet is the part that broke. Other than using gorilla glue, not much else I can do with it. I'll try a flat target and see how it works.

Sounds good.

Well, I swapped in a replacement target I found at Pinball Life:

http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=1760

The target is about 1/16th of an inch too tall so I sanded it down and it seems to be a suitable replacement for the short term. I didn't seem to get any more air balls or anything hitting the plastics on the sides of the death star.

Thanks williams! I use to live in the 'boro! I still have a brother and a few very close friends there

TomDWI, what do you need to do that type of rivit? If all goes well I'll need to know how to do that.

That looks good Eric. Is it the same width as the original?

#20 10 years ago

No, the new target is shallower than the original, but functional.

If you need to do riveting, check this out: http://www.pinrestore.com/Riveting.html
