Sam is at home but bed bound, immobile due to his diabetes and bad knees.
Most of his collection (200+ games) that was in storage units has been transfered to the pinball ranch near Hollister in the care of Matt Cristiano.
He still probably has at least 50-75 games at home stacked to the ceiling, along with all his files and paperwork relating to pinball.
As far as I know he has not sold off his collection (maybe a couple games (doubles) here and there)
and is under a nurses care (they come visit a couple times a day, at home) mostly paid via medicare.
Just got off the phone with Sam,
Ironically, he was on the way to the hospital because he has an infection on his wrist that is not healing properly,
not super serious, but something that will need special care and treatment in a more controlled environment.
He was in fairly good spirits under the circumstances, and hopes to be back home again soon.
He is selling off some of the collection but only the doubles.
Sam's Joke: (he just told me over the phone)
What is green and slimey and smells
Answer: Miss Piggy's boyfriend (Kermit's) Finger.
Quoted from Azmodeus:You know it was today and it’s an EM, Single player game. I will ask.
Well since Sam has been confined to his bed for months,
thought it may have been a while.
Just heard from a fellow pinball collector that Sam Harvey fell out of bed a few days ago
and broke his leg and ankle and had some brain bleeding.
Sam at first refused to go to the hospital but after some more coaxing went to the hospital and they set his leg
and the brain bleed had stopped.
At first, in the ER with all the beeping, Sam said "this arcade must have 200 games".
So he still has his sense of humor.
He is doing OK for now, but at his age and condition, anything may happen
but is scheduled to come home in a few days.
Keep him in your prayers.
Sam is doing Ok but still confined to bed.
Matt Cristiano and others went to his home in late April to pick up most of the rest of his pin collection (>100+ pins)
to store and set up and display them (at the pinball ranch in San Benito county), as opposed to it being neglected inside his house
with games stacked to the ceiling. The plan is to also sell off some of his collection to help pay his medical bills.
Matt is already in possession of what remains of Sam's Collection at his huge building on the ranch (>300 games)
Sam maybe has a dozen games still left at his home, but can't play them since he can no longer walk or leave his bed.
Sam still has a ton of NOS BackGlasses at the house as well as a multitude of pinball paperwork in file cabinets,
(i.e schematics and pinball flyers and binders of serial numbers etc etc.)
He has a roommate that lives with him and a nurse that checks in on him daily.
Quoted from MrBally:Will his Seeburg V 200 be going up for sale?
Not sure, probably not, at this time,
I think Matt made mention of Sam still wanting that set up in his living room.
