Very interesting hearing about the operation side. Coming from a position of ignorance I'd assume a big difference in operating today is that you could operate a machine like MMr for 4 or 5 years even and then sell if for not to much less than what you originally purchased it for? Back in the 80's and 90's you might be taking a big hit on the value after a few years compared to what you paid NIB? Then I guess depreciation comes into the equation with tax etc.
