Quoted from dsuperbee:He's got some on the front, but way better than most!
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:Oh yeah I see it - still, there's RED on them decals!
Thanks!
Yeah, I was surprised too when I showed up to see it how much color there still was on the sides. Almost makes the lack of topper bearable (now I gotta find one). The playfield is pretty much virgin as well.... smooth and shiny, no wear that I can see. Plus the guy bought powder coated legs... which look really nice in person. I think this and The Shadow are my nicest looking pins.
Quoted from noahd42:I joined the club this week too! Plays great. I'm really enjoying the game so far. Previous owner had the game set to ten balls... Safe to say I changed that and I don't think I'll be hitting any of his high scores.
Great color on the sides there! 10 balls?! That's crazy.
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:Someone on PS is selling a topper - it's not a moving one, but making the dalek move isn't that hard if you buy one of the kits . Be prepared to spend $$$ though
Thanks. Yeah, I saw that. But at roughly $400 US (plus shipping), that's a tough pill to swallow. I'd rather spend $30 buying a large dalek toy off eBay/Amazon and putting it up there. Nobody will know but me...
Quoted from pinball_faz:$400 seems to be the magic number these days.
But, if you're going to spend that $400 I'd recommend the ColorDMD for DW be the first spend. As a player I really enjoy the ColorDMD more than my moving topper (which the assembly was $400). Shimoda got the dots "right".
faz
Agreed. I'd much rather buy a ColorDMD (LED version) for the Doctor methinks.
Quoted from jzdziarski:question: has anyone had issues with occasional ball hangups between the mini/main playfield on the cliffy protectors? do you have to shim the mini playfield where it bolts to the main playfield, or is there a better way to get the mini to come up just a smidge?
Yes. Only way I know of is to shim with washers where the bolts go on top. If there's a better way I'd like to know also.
Quoted from hailrazer:I shimmed mine with washers under the 4 bolts that hold on the motor. That makes the mini playfield drop down lower.
Yeah, but I had to raise my MPF higher...
For you guys without toppers, what do you do? Since finding an original topper is pretty much unobtainium.
I was thinking about buy a dalek toy and putting it up there, or a large blue phone box.
I'd love to find an equivalent DW toy of some kind and rig up a motor, buy the interface board, and have it move as the original one did.
Do most folks just stay topper-less, or do you try to shove something up there? Would love to see pics and inspired substitutions!
Quoted from pins4u:Toppers weren't 'standard' from new so there's not too many out there.
What does this mean? Every doctor who pinball machine originally came with a topper.
But yeah, they are difficult to find if they’re missing.
Quoted from ralphwiggum:Looking for someone in the Continental US (or Canada) that would like a free set of these lenticular cards in exchange for pictures of them installed in their machine. First person to respond in this thread, I will send them your way. Thanks!
