Happy to knock at this club's door.
I have my DW pinball since two month only and i am so in love with it !
Here in France, it is not a popular TV show. It as just came timidly from our British neighbours since the new 2005 serie.
In add to the tacky and ugly translite this pinball is underrated...
I have changed for a alternate backglass that is playing perfectly with the original light-show and also for a custom more compact topper dome... And this machine seems regenerated like a time lord !
Playfield art is great and i hope offer to my DW a Pinsound pcb as soon as possible.
It's a very good machine for family but also a very technical/strategic pin to make big score. Everybody enjoy with it.

Quoted from TechnicalSteam:

Where did you find this alternative translite?

I have created this translite

#1781 6 years ago

In fact it's a graphic prototype printed on a plexiglass backside sheet, so it's really a backglass.
As it work great (with leds and bulb flashers) i actually do a mini-production of 3 translites (on backlight 280g PVC)...
If result is good, maybe one or two to sell. You could contact me in Private Message.

Hi guys,

i know that that some of you are going to make some "mushroom" targets with 3D printers.
If somebody is interested, i've got in extra a set of five new old stock targets. MP

Quoted from RussMyers:

the only thing I could ask is that the blacks be just a little "blacker"

Do you have amps or leds behind translite ? Leds are sometimes too shiny and maybe produce less deep blacks.

Quoted from RussMyers:

the material was maybe a little thicker and stiffer.

It's unfortunately the only way to produce in few quantity this kind of product. I think it's a minor problem as you can tape whith scotch on edges.

#2033 5 years ago

Problem with BSD is that i think actually that its translite is better than its playfield graphics !

#2036 5 years ago

I have added left red and right yellow convolux on mine.
It is really nice, effects are very fine and bright with DW playfield.

It looks awesome, but the essentiel problem with lot of alternate translites is that it doesn't respect the original lightshow and make some surrealists effects...
Lightshow works by animated Logo (up), Davros, Time expander (down) and the seven doctors... not only a DW big logo and some stuff around...

In my opinion

#2052 5 years ago

... Everyone sees it their own way...

I can't imagine taking out some lights because i love the "light show" concept ; eyes on my playfield or not...

But it's leisure after all and the essential is to enjoy !

#2054 5 years ago
Quoted from Pinstein:

Also per the light show, comet LEDs matrix system makes it super easy and affordable to move lamps and flashers pretty much where ever you like. Personally Id rather be looking at a piece of art that appeals to me with a random light show than vice versa, but to each there own.

Surely a good way, i don't know this material.
Thanks for the information

Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

what more would you want?

animated logo and flashing doctors...

#2059 5 years ago

so, all for the best in the best of all worlds...
Thank you Doctor
As i said before, everyone sees it their own way. And it's great ! Instead of this we would have the same clone machine...

Most important thing is that the original translite is an horrible piece of (bad) art

Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

This is killing me dudes, anyone tired of their DW?

Impossible !

And with a Pinsound board and alternate translite, it's impossible X 100 !!!

Quoted from N8man:

Just finished up my led speaker panel. Made it out of 3/8 plexi. I think it came out great

Pretty cool !
It's a commercial item or a DIY ?

Looking forward to seeing all this on the machine...

Quoted from topkat:

The previous owner said this is how it is and the game knows bc some Dr's won't get the ball back and some will.

My Doc always give back the ball, good boy...

Quoted from tlukka:

The thing I don't like about the alternative translites is they don't make sense with the flasher configuration.

This one is working perfectly with the original light-show > https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/doctor-who-owners-clubtime-lords-welcome?tu=baronrouge#op
