Does anyone have a printable pdf scan of these 3 stickers:
20191004_121110 (resized).jpg20191004_121110 (resized).jpg20191004_121128 (resized).jpg20191004_121128 (resized).jpg20191004_122043 (resized).jpg20191004_122043 (resized).jpg
Pinsider eyeamred2u has generously sent me his amazing scans of most stuff.

But I'm missing these 3.

#2952 4 years ago

I scanned this one off my ramp and used GIMP to clean it up.
I uploaded it to the forum.
The image is supposed to be 2.125" x .75" (2 1/8" x 3/4")

I saved it that way and shouldnt need any more resizing.

Either way let me know if it works for you.

This is the other ramp decal I scanned.
Its supposed to be 1 1/16" x 1 3/4"

The hole in the center is intentionally offset.

Take a look and let me know if it works.

Anybody have scans of the left ramp decals? The "cliffhanger" and the two on tge flashlamp pod. Is "pdf" the best one to have?
Or better yet, a set of used decals.

I'll try make you a scan tomorrow.
If it fits on my scanner.

It doesnt matter if its pdf or high quality jpg.

PM me your email address.

What is the flash lamp pod?
The decals over the rescue ttargets?

I can only scan 8.5 x 11 inches they might be too long..

If its bigger someone else will have to do it.

Cell phone images are also a good source for a scan.

Resize them in GIMP.

That said, new ramps from marco come with decals.

First one all fixed:

Not bad for a first attempt.
I might be better at color matching if I wasn't so color-blind,

I just have to trust the GIMP color picker...lol !

Problem with that is my ramp is not in bad shape . Be nice if spaceship fantasy or marco would sell only the decals.

Hammermill 32lb gloss laser paper.

How thick is that Hammermill stuff? All the doctor who I have seen seam to have a problem. The original decals peel around the edges. I guess they are too thick or the adhesive is not strong enough to make them stick to round surface. Maybe it would look better if they were resized to only fit the flat areas? Is that possible?

#2966 4 years ago

Evidently Fedex has lost my marco order somewhere in Texas.

I was going to rebuild the escape target assembly this weekend.

No problem, molexed the 7 wires to make it easy to pull out later:
20191005_191251 (resized).jpg20191005_191251 (resized).jpg

I didn't want to use a 6 pin and a single.
So I opted for 2 of the small 4 pin ones.

#2967 4 years ago

I'm finally going to mount the playfield in the cabinet Monday!

We'll see if anything blows up.
I'm hoping for an uneventful day.

I use Papilio vinyl paper that is 3 MIL thick. Poor adhesion, lack of glue and old age did in these labels.

Hammermill 32lb gloss laser paper.

Canon image pass color laser printer.

3mil crystal clear adhesive mylar laminate.

3m 467mp adhesive applied to stickers for mounting.

Print, stick on the laminate, stick on the glue-tape.

Trim and peel off the backing to apply.

Pretty easy and durable results.
Edges seem to stay down really well.

They end up about 10 mil thick.
Acceptable but could be a lot better.

Vinyl paper is the best.

I'll have yo get some!

I refuse to use 3m tape. The vinyl paper is already peel n stick.

Probably equal or better adhesion.

Papilio is pretty good stuff.

I have a couple rolls of 3m 467 so I use it a lot.

Mostly to re-apply stickers.

Can you print on the adhesive side on that vinyl paper?

#2973 4 years ago
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

Lol...
No, you cant, but you can get vinyl paper without adhesive.

Then you would use the 3m tape.

I was shocked that my paper is glossy on both sides!

So if I f#ck something up I can use the back still.

#2976 4 years ago

It really does update the game so much. A ColorDMD and a nice LED job really do make an old game seem new again!

Also installed a new launch button and did some tweaking on my my time expander while I wait for dsuperbee to finish his time expander lighting mod.

Are you keeping track of how much you have spent on your Doctor Who?

That’s what I figured; I was confused about the comment about not using the 3M tape. That sounds like the sticker otherwise has to be placed on top of the ramp

Wait, I hadn’t heard of the time expanded mod - is there a link to that?

#2980 4 years ago
Quoted from pinballjah:

Are you keeping track of how much you have spent on your Doctor Who?

Not keeping track per se.
It needs what it needs lol.

Most doctor who games are really rough

In my case nearly everything needs replacrment.

So it's a HEP style over-the-top restoration on this one, around $3500 plus the game itself?

Pinsound, colorLED, flipper fidelity speakers and ledOCD are a big part of the cost.

Still left is pinsound shaker and pdi anti-glare glass.

The game will be better and nicer than brand new when done.

So I guess, on par with the cost of a new game. Maybe a little less.

It becoming one of the nicest doctor who games out there, no expense has been spared.

And no, it's not for sale.
Pinballgoddess says she will be buried in it lol, it's her dream game.

No, he does these as kinda one off custom setups. I told him he needs to come up with a kit, because once you see how it looks you wonder why it wasn’t always there.

Next time I see his machine (which is for sale BTW) or when mine is done I’ll take some video.

Thank you

Well, first you can give us some more detail. Did it EVER start up? What does "start up" mean? do the lights come on? does nothing happen at all? If it's nothing happening, no lights, no motors, no sound, then you should start by checking your fuses. Lots of times people put the wrong rated fuse in, and this can damage the game! So check them according to the manual. even if one looks like it works, it may be the wrong rating, and you can not trust looking at a fuse visually, you need to test with a multimeter to be sure.

the manual is here on IPDB if you don't have one printed:
https://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=738

#2987 4 years ago

the machine did start up,
fuses are all checked
when I turn it on it gives one beep
but the 3 LED lights on the CPU board stay on
after the beep nothing happends
in can check if the fuses have the right value

One beep means everything is checking out. Maybe you have something unplugged?

Does this also need to be lamanated afterwards? Could you upload a picture of something you have printed with this paper?

So no PF lights at all and nothing on the DMD? What happens if you just let it sit, is it resetting?

Maybe power supply? Sounds like an issue I had w my Tommy. See if any connectors to power supply board are damaged or try reconnecting them.

Check all of the ribbon cables.

Unplug and replug them. (Reseat them)
Make sure they are not off by a pin.

Post pictures of the backbox and what is wrong.

So is there a complete set of decals now scanned? I would love to do a retheme or at least a “re-color” of the game and make it a bit less of the yellow/orange. The original art is fine but this is something I’ve wanted to do for a while, and include more doctors eventually
