Quoted from swinks:just got to print a sample at home to check the design and then print from Shapeways as the final check, so will be available soon.
This is the preview image of the metal flake grey from Shapeways
Can't wait to see what color options are available.
I'm trying to decide what color I should go with. Blue would kind of pop. I've seen some alternate colors before.
The ones in my machine are scratched to hell. Not sure how they got that way.
I am getting ready to shop my Dr Who. Replacing All Post, Rubbers and Ramps.
Only thing I am having issues with are Plastics. Can't find any "official" sources.
Anyone have a set?
here is a search engine for parts

Quoted from swinks:colour options for that modded look
Those look great! Hmmmmmmm. Which one to pick..............
Hello, all. Hope this is appropriate here. Roughly 1 out of 10 TARDIS ejected balls bounces back up and to the right and drains. Any suggestions? As far as I can tell I’m quite level.
I feel it could be any combination of too speedy a coil, too bouncy a bumper plug, too thick of a slingshot rubber, and any number of other things. Anyone had this issue? How did you correct? I’ve adjusted the direction of the ramp (via the left/right play in the lowest mounting bracket) to no effect.
Much appreciated.

That bumper plug looks really thick to me. The plug I have and am used to seeing is blue and I seem to recall it is thinner and therefore not as bouncy?
Quoted from Catch86:So something like this is what I would expect.
Brilliant. I knew the Time Lords wouldn't let me down. I'll try this first and see where it gets me.
Anyone else have a thinner plug vs the thicker one I have here?
Quoted from swinks:these would be half the colour options for that modded look
Ready to order 5 gray and 5 yellow whenever you're ready with this.
Quoted from thedoctor:Ready to order 5 gray and 5 yellow whenever you're ready with this.
purple and grey sample being made now and going to a pinsider in the next 7-10 days for testing very soon.... once single sample tests ok I will make a 5 target branch to reduce the cost a little more as Shapeways charge a handling fee per item so if I make the branch of five you save 4 x handling fees.

Had exactly this problem with my DW.
If the end of the ramp were a bit longer, never would have happened.
Put some Dead Drop Foam over the blue bumper and that did the trick.

Quoted from BaronRouge:In fact it's a graphic prototype printed on a plexiglass backside sheet, so it's really a backglass.
As it work great (with leds and bulb flashers) i actually do a mini-production of 3 translites (on backlight 280g PVC)...
If result is good, maybe one or two to sell. You could contact me in Private Message.
Bought mine from Baron Rouge - looks amazing
Better than the crap factory one.
Kudos!

Has anyone installed the Brite Caps on their Dr. Who? If so, was wondering what you did with the bumper that is covered with a plastic piece. Thanks.

Take off the plastic, take off the cap, install the brite cap, reinstall the plastic. Nothing keeps it from working fine
I also use these things called “glue dots” to install the brite caps, instead of super glue. They are very sticky tiny globs of glue that adhere as well as hot glue and do not move, even with the action of the pops, and you can remove them without damaging or discoloring the light or the pop caps
Quoted from jzdziarski:Guess I'm in the club now... modernized this a bit with a new translite, Pinsound, dipped incandescents... so much fun.
Is the Tardis firing a laser?

I did on mine. Love it! I used a hot glue gun to affix them to the bottom of the cap for a clean install.
Does anyone have the wobbleheadkit on their DW?
I have had the pin for quite a while, the servo (head) doesn't rotate but the lights work as expected (canon etc...). The previous owner said that they had been in touch with the guy who made this and said that he offered to repair it but he had never follower up to send it out. I don't have any contact info and am not sure if he is around any longer.
I am curious to know what D2 is supposed to look like. It seems like it is missing it's top/casing. It is certainly the only component that looks like this on here. Can someone share details or thoughts on this?
Thanks
Actually, just wondering now if it is an led haha! I removed the board without testing it all in hand
Thanks guys. the bottom is made of 3/4 inch maple plywood and clearcoated. I made the rear of the backbox 3/4 inch as well. All trims are made of solid maple. I'm a huge fan of Doctor Who and figure that this machine deserves it.
I'm looking for a Doctor Who within 200 miles of Richmond, VA. PM me if you have one for sale. Thanks.

Thin one on mine, never had a problem.

Thanks, did you only install two?

You can install on all 3, see my post above
Can someone who has installed a ColorDMD tell me how to modify the lamp board for the different doctors' faces in the speaker panel? I cant find it in the support section of the ColorDMD website.

This? Or do you have other questions?

I followed the instructions almost exactly. There's a few extra posts on Pinside describing install too.

Thanks Faz, shame there isn't an easier solution. I dislike doing permanent irreversible modifications to a game. Too bad someone doesn't make these light boards ready made and we can just keep the originals safe.

The reversible solution is to buy the ColorDMD LED board; this fits perfectly in the space of the original DMD and the light board stays in place

I don't know if your Color DMD hardware is the same as it was three years ago when I did it, but you might be able to just mount it higher and leave the board as it.

That looks like a simpler option, I will try it out.

Just know if you do that, the translate becomes difficult to install; takes a lot of wiggling
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:Just know if you do that, the translate becomes difficult to install; takes a lot of wiggling
darn, guess it was too good to be true. I will still try it out
Hmm... I thought that photo looked familiar.
It rarely comes up for sale unless someone is parting a machine. However, it's not a tricky design.
It's just a support bracket. Would you want to try to make one?
If you have the motor/gearbox... you know where to position the holes for the screws and the arbor.
If you have the elevator bracket.. you know where to position the holes in the bottom of the plate.
If you're game, I can lay a tape across it to get you some dimensions.

Quoted from DavidC:hi, just joined the club today, machine is a project... and one major part is missing, help would be appreciated...
i need the time expander motor mount bracket, anyone has one for sale or knows where to buy?
thanks a lot
I made a drawing of it when I made my first mod and didn't own a DW, just in case I had to make one.
The measurements are pretty accurate but is in mm so you might need to convert it to inches.
PM if you want me to scan it, hope it helps if you don't find one for sale.

Outstanding drawing. I actually thought of you; given your shop skills, this bracket would be nothing.
DavidC: There it is, pretty straight forward. Just keep in mind this bracket is pretty thick. Looking at the above diagram, 2.25mm. That thickness was required to hold the bend in the angle. That bracket takes a lot of torque. A small corner triangle may be needed (or a block) to keep the bracket true. @Darkpinball, any advice here? Am I making stuff up or is this a concern?
