I had this little coil go bad, and looks like you can only get it with that bracket, so it's pretty pricey for just a little coil. I already ordered it, but not before considering getting some wire and re-winding it myself. A spool of the correct wire that has more than enough is only $8. I wondered about putting it on a drill and winding myself. Ha... is that crazy, or has anyone done this?

Shoot, just realized I should have inquired to Andrew at APB about getting just the coil. It's got a weird core though that accepts a screw to hold it on the bracket: maybe could have salvaged the core and swapped it to a fresh coil.

It's this guy, and it just controls the lift flap in the orbit on Sopranos.

If I ask Steve if he has a 32-1800 coil that's 3/4" long, with core that protrudes 1/8" and accepts a screw on the other end, what are the chances I'd get an answer? Ha...

Maybe I should have checked, but I needed other stuff that only Marco has anyways, and they're always really helpful and friendly with parts questions, and they bring all the new Sterns to shows to try, so I don't mind paying more sometimes. That's why I didn't research too much, but couldn't help wondering about DIY route. I might mess with it sometime.

The whole mech was removed and lying in the cabinet when I got that Sopranos machine. So it went bad before I got the machine, and yeah, it was open with the diode removed. I jumpered control lines for the inoperable flap from the board to the working flap, and it activated fine in test, so transistor is good. Makes me wonder what damaged the coil, didn't have obvious sign of melting.
