Joining the club soon! Will have pics in May when I pick her up!

At least I know the ramps will be really nice!

Brought it home last night! Raining too hard to get it in the basement now, but excited to get working on it. It's pretty darn nice, and has new ramps thanks to JodyG - This was his machine. I guess I bugged him enough after seeing it at the Allentown show last year!

Quoted from poppapin:

Was that the one in freeplay? I remember the cheese shooter rod!!

Yes. When I bought it from Jody I put it in free play. Unfortunately it had issues (no fault of his, this stuff happens) and I was at work and unable to work on it. Seems that there's a switch issue. Jody actually got it going again for me Friday morning but then it resurfaced. It needs a more permanent fix which I'll get to.

Chris

Quoted from JodyG:

I have to take the backboxes off each game to put them in my basement and take them out again. Even though the game tested okay when I took it out and put it back together last week, something must have happened during the trip to the show with being in the back of a UHaul and PA's glorious roads, I'm guessing. The plug that plugs into the mouse hole area behind the playfield, visible through the access hole leading from the back of the cabinet to the backbox had a thru-wire break off that IDC plug so only half the wire was still connected to the IDC. I made a manual splice here, but it needs to be soldered and shrink wrapped to make a permanent fix. I didn't have the ability to do this at the show unfortunately. That one wire (yellow/purple I think) broke an entire row/column in the switch matrix.

Thanks for the more in depth explanation Jody! Stuff happens, no biggie. We'll get it sorted out! Should be making its way to the basement tonight I hope.

Also - I'm not a fan of the Cheese shaped shooter rod. If anyone wants that after I switch it out let me know.

New to the club - picked up on Tuesday. Just put in new rubbers, LEDs, cleaned the crap out of her, fixed some switches and non-functioning solenoids. I need to get rid of the dirty mylar at some point soon - will be my first attempt at that. For now, it's time to mouse around!

She's a beaut Clark!

MOK so I have a switch matrix issue and an inset lighting issue. I pulled the playfield today to start hunting it down and we’ll…..:.. where are these supposed to go?! Not that the playfield is out of the machine it is likely easier to put these back

Quoted from Pinash:

I’d hate to be that guy, but did you check the manual? Page 2-26 shows which columns of the lamp matrix those go to. Check out each lamp in that column, and you should find the one missing wires.

Be that guy. I haven’t yet. The game did t come with one and I have t pulled it from IPDB yet. I’ll do that and see if I can get it worked out.

I believe I solved my switch matrix issue! Coil on the diverter was bad. Replaced and it seems better in power up. Will have to replace the playfield to be sure. Not to determine why my controlled lights aren’t working

Well it’s a good day. Got the controlled lights working. Turns out it was the 8amp fuse. Thought I had tested them all but totally missed that one.

#934 1 year ago

Well I did NOT solve the switch matrix issue

While that coil clearly needed replacement, we're pretty much where I was before. When powering the machine on it runs the diverter 4 or 5 times. In the self test it comes up with "Check Diverter" and Diverter malfunction". The diverter switch does test good on a multimeter if that matters.

I *think* I've narrowed it down to a switch row. Perhaps there's a broken wire in the row or a bad diode? In the switch edge test the plumb bob tilt and right flipper switches register, but everything else in the row (circled in red) does not.

Update -

Determined the switch was bad (as well as the diode) for the diverter. Replaced those and all non working switches now work!!

Now I need to dig into the right traps sit has issues raising.

Thanks for the PM’s and help!!

Anyone know a source for the trap assemblies? In addition to the one not working, both have many cracks in the base.

Quoted from DK:

That might be tough…

Yeah I’m sure it will be. And likely not cheap

#939 1 year ago
Quoted from Pinash:

Not really that tough (but pricey): ebay.com link: itm
Just the bracket can be 3d printed here: https://www.shapeways.com/product/FK8SWFXJB/wico-15-988200-u-ball-eater-bracket-u?optionId=82941984&li=shops

I saw that one on Ebay, thank you. It looks to be broken already

Thankyou for the link for the bracket. that might be just the trick!

Chris

#944 1 year ago
Quoted from swinks:

They are my brackets at Shapeways which are solid professionally printed in nylon and won't be warped. I have a standard one which is a replica and then the upgraded one in which I strengthened up in a few areas that I viewed as weak points.
That ebay one is broken and missing a portion of the main bracket so it will need a bracket anyway.
Scroll down to Mous'in Around Poster to see the options.

Yes, I purchased 2 yesterday. Thanks for making these.

Chris

#946 1 year ago

Me again

Sorry to be a bother, but I am getting SO close! Got the switch matrix resolved with the replacement of the diverter switch and diode. All controlled lamps are now working well.

The only issue I have now is that the switches on the right trap assembly are not registering. when manually activated in switch edge test neither switch does anything. Diodes test good, nothing is disconnected wiring-wise that I can see.

The game does not recognize when the trap is down and keeps kicking the coil to lower the trap. All other switches in that row and column are functioning correctly.

I think once I get this figured out the machine will be working 100%.

Quoted from philsublime:

I guess I joined the club about an year ago, when I received my MA. I just haven't posted here. My MA looks really great. It was super dirty when I got it, but I took it apart, cleaned everything and put new light bulbs in. Now it's great! Decals are super nice. I post a pic later.
A few problems I had during the cleaning and taking apart process:
- Backboard was super annoying. Half of them didn't work after reinstalling it. It was a pain to make all the lightbulbs work. The Jackpot light doesn't work to this day...
- Diverter mech was a pain to fix. The plunger broke and I had difficulties adjusting the new one until the mech worked properly. It works now, but the diverter "arm" is kind of loose because the hole is a bit worn out. I guess I'm fine, but it would be great if it fit a bit tighter.
Positives about the game:
- Incredible flow. The game is super fast and has great ramps. Love it.
- Is no one talking about the lightshow? The lightshow for a Sys11 game is mind blowing. Inserts in sync with the music, fading GI all the time, great multiball lightshow. I guess if you switch to LED, some of it might get lost.
Taxi was my favorite Sys11 game. But I think MA is just better in every way. I cannot imagine selling it.

The Light show is really impressive. For an older game, the way it synchs with the music is just awesome. I could not agree with you more.

Quoted from snyper2099:

I traded my nice Taxi for the Mousin' I own. After 4 years, zero regrets. Whirlwind and Radical are the best sys 11 machines but, that does not mean you have to like them or own them.

I've been lucky to have many System 11 machines. The only 2 games I have bought more than once are Mousin Around and Fire!.

Mousin Around I still have. Fire I sold again a while back and don't really miss it. Someday I may be able to snag a Whirlwind to go with my Earthshaker.

Can someone check the back box and see if the back of it sits flush with the lower cab? I’m repairing the previous “repairs” performed in my machine, and want to make sure I get the fit up correct.

Well my Mousin Around frustrated me so much I took it to a fellow collectors house so he could have a go at it. After 5 days he sent me a text stating it was fixed and working 100%. I figured it was something stupid I missed, but when I asked him what he did I got the following text back:

“Redid the wiring harness so it’s not pulling on stuff and getting stuff more broken.

Fixed the right flipper. Was lamesauce.

Fixed the left ramp entry switch. Was assembled backwards.

Fixed the right ramp “make” switch. Broken wire.

Repaired the “millions” backboard light harness. Found 3 breaks in the wires. The O was broken and shorting to another wire as well.

Repaired a ton of wiring along the column that has the TRAP targets, and the right Mouse Cheese ball grabber thingie. That also involved the outhole.

Outhole switch was misadjusted. Fixed that.

Repaired a solenoid wire behind the right trap.

I think that’s about it.”

A HUGE thank you to EagleTG for his help. He’s holding onto the machine a bit to thoroughly play test but once that happens it will be back in my lineup!

Well I went to visit my Mousin' Around yesterday since my buddy fixed her all up..........or so we thought.

Was playing a game and it was goinf great! Everything working ok, lighting was correct, I was happy!

Then out of nowhere a tile warning (clearly unwarranted) and the game reset as if someone pushed the start button.

So I guess there is still a glitch in the (switch) matrix. This is exactly why I requested for him to have it at his place for a while to test.

Sigh. This thing is going to be my problem child (and his too!) LOL

I find this game absolutely brutal with the outlanes. I made 2 modifications to my Mousin Around today. You may find these blasphemous so if you’re easily triggered move on now

1) added a center post between the flippers. Was already set up for it and just had a plastic plug in the hole.

2) opened the right rail so the ball can be nudged back into the shooter lane from the right outlane.

For the record, neither of these have improved my play.

Quoted from Pinash:

To each their own, but I am surprised yours is so tough. Mine has no center pin and the smaller, regular sized, flippers and the balls still stay in play forever.

It's possible that I just suck at pinball. LOL.

It was at my buddy's place for a while and he said that same thing, that it was absolutely brutal to him as well.

Does anyone sell the entire center ramp drop target system preassembled?

I believe it is the same assembly used on the drawbridge ramp for Black Knight 2000 so if you were to find one for that, it should work. I think. Just a way to expand the search for ya.
