I went ahead and created two kits on Titan's website for future use. One kit has standard white rubber and red flipper rings. And another kit with all yellow rings, black flipper rubbers, black shooter tip and black standard post sleeves.

Hope this helps anyone else with their rubber battle. And yes... the list in the manual was terrible. I had to use my game for reference.

P.s. I didnt include the grommets that go under the playfield coils where the plunger rests on pop bumpers/ upkickers. I dont think Titan makes them.

You should post the link. Thanks for making the list.

Do You have any photos of the black and yellow rings?

I will post photos of the black/yellow kit after I get done with my teardown. The one I picked up is super dirty and missing a few parts. Currently dealing with a pretty messy wiring hackjob.

Here's the link to the Mousin' Around kits at Titan
https://www.titanpinball.com/kits/index.php/browse/bygame/3216

**Edit** I believe this kit is correct but if anyone finds that it is missing anything. Let me know and I will change it.

I'm in the club! Brought home a MA on Saturday. And I didn't even have to drive 22hrs to get it! Hehe! I did have to accept a worn playfield though. Looks like someone's mylar-removal didn't go so hot. But the price was right on this one. Excited to have my first System 11. Badly in need of a shop job, but everything's working 100%, even the usual problem spots like the mouse-hole diverter, ball-lock traps, and target visor.

Gonna give it a good cleaning this week, and I'd love some advice from anyone with more experience than me. I'm gonna try to do a partial topside tear-down, can anyone give me any tips on where to begin, or what to watch out for. Is there any particular place I should start, or can I just start unscrewing things?

Also, what's the best way to get to access the upper-left pop? (the one under the zip ramp) Mine's got a bulb out. Lastly, will the main swoosh ramp/plastic set come out if I unscrew all the visible screws on top, or is there more to it? Looks like the mouse-hole diverter could be in the way, or will the ramp just slide out from under it without a problem?

Thanks so much in advance for any help that you could give me! This is a cool game!

Don't be intimidated. I honestly put off tearing mine down for an LED and cleaning job after I got it because it looked like a pain in the ass. The ramps are all pretty big and come off easily, and once those are off you basically have access to everything you need to clean, change rubbers, etc. It took way less time than I thought to do it all. Take lots of pictures and label stuff and you'll be fine!

#607 35 days ago

Not sure that the playfield problem was from removing mylar.
My machine has a very similar wear pattern, and I don't believe it ever had mylar.
I think MA tends to wear in that spot.

You could be right. The thing is, its also got a few areas where white is showing through the paint in speckled vertical lines, which made me think of mylar removal. Then again, if a game gets played over and over without cleaning or fresh wax, there's no telling how much the paint can wear on a non-cc'd game.

Yeah, it's not too hard to tear this game down, but you will have to remove the playfield from the cabinet to remove the swoosh ramp.

#610 35 days ago

I did a full topside tear down as well as removed/cleaned/updated all underside mechs. And LED’s everywhere except flashers.
Not a terribly difficult game to shop but getting to the back diverter mech is a pain.
Best to pull the playfield out to do that section. I have tons of pics from my teardown if you bump into any problems.
Good luck and enjoy!

Oh really? Darn. Are there some screws behind the mouse hole? I don't have a rotisserie or anything, so would I just pull the pf out and lean it against the side of the cabinet? Not a total noob when it comes to electronics, but definitely a noob when it comes to actually working, and not just playing, on pins.

Yup.
I disconnected all the wiring I could from the backbox boards and carefully lifted the playfield out then stod it on end next to my game to work on the mouse hole mechanics.
Wasn't too bad (or too heavy to pull out on my own) since I had already removed everything from the topside of the playfield.

Hi Does anyone have one of these plastics that they would let go for a reasonable price? My game will just be a layers machine when I get it back up and running but I am missing this plastic completely so anything is better then what I have right now.

Just joined the club recently!

Did my standard full topside teardown & cleanup. Did a few tweaks & minor mods. Painted coin door. Tastefully LED'd. The game play is very smooth now & fun as heck. A keeper for sure!

I just joined the club. Bought a machine in very nice condition except for in front of the flippers there is a wear spot on the playfield. Was wondering if anyone has done a decal or water slide for this machine for this area. Thanks

I´m working in Mousin´s Around Aprons Set. I´m waiting for some printed tests I ordered for to get perfect color match.

I think nobody restored it before me.

You can see even right serial number in my restoration.

Here my restoration work:

Can someone post a picture of J9 on the interconnect board? I'm trying to repin the connector and according to the manual I'm missing a wire or 2.

Thanks.

Can anyone advise me of the best way to replace these big-boy bulbs? They're the only two lamps that aren't working on my Mousin' and they're killing my OCD a bit. I was gonna take the plastics off, of course, but then it looks like the metal guide will have to go as well, since these biggies won't fit through the opening in the guide. Is it just a matter of removing the screws from the top of the PF/guide, or is there more to it? Looking for some advice from someone who's got more experience tearing down a Mousin' Playfield. Thanks!

Just lift the playfield up and unscrew the socket from the bottom.

Cheers!

Hey guys my mouse hole eject coil is not working and I can't figure out why... I have already changed the transistor and the pre driver transistor but in coil test it does nothing. Anyone know if this coil is linked to the Q6 on the AUX power driver board with the larger tip36C transistors. Manual says Q6 but Q6 is on both the MPU and AUX board.

*update* Tried grounding the Q6 transistor tab and still nothing happens. Transistor tab measures .588 on one leg and .499 on the other leg with my meter....

*update #2* Rookie Mistake. Didnt check fuse on AUX board with meter. Discovered it was bad. Eject coil working great now!!!

Spent most of my day today getting this one torn down, cleaned up, and troubleshooting problems. She's finally running but not 100%. I've gotta figure out why the diverter isnt working properly. Plus the motor for the stand ups is also not working at all. The motor relay works in coil test but it never goes up and down.

Getting closer...

Watching the Slam Tilt Twitch stream (hey Gizmonic) on Mousin Around, I dug into the buggy sound ROM.

First of. When comparing sound between games, be sure to compare sound ROM revision(s) AND game ROM revision. One thing is the sound content. Another is its usage.

Mousin is a mess. Complete mess when it comes to release information on those sound ROMs.

It is true that one set of sound ROMs has flaws. But I cannot make out if it is L-1 or L-2 that is bad. One would think it is L-1, which was fixed. But it seems like L-2 was a change for the worse.

For this rundown, L-1 is defined to be the first relese and the one working.

The bad sound ROM will mess up at Cheezy bonus collect, Jackpot lit and Jackpot collect (with L-4 game ROM). Possibly more.

ROM files identified by the SHA1 checksum.

Mousin Around

Known Sound ROMs.

L-1:

Sound board:
U4: 45dea0f4c6f24d17e6f7dda75afaa7caefdc6b96
U19: 2b2fc8e7634b1885b020b2115126d6341172cc91
U20: Unused

U22: 4f15696909e1f3574ad20b28e31da2c155ed129f

L-2:

U20: Unused

CPU board:
Same as L-1

And this is the messy way to locate these files.

The L-4 patch d87f modified software does not change any of the exsisting sound usage. But sound is added like this...

If Cheese or Streak runmode is selected and CHEESE is spelled out, hitting the center targets will once in a while cue the "Head for the hole" call out or the mouse laughter. To guide and, most importantly, to taunt the player.

So how would I tell if my sound was messed up? I get the "Head for the hole!" sounds. Does anything else mess up with bad sounds?

Quoted from soren:

So that explains why that happened when I put the original ROMS back into the machine. Hmm. Tournament ROMS do not have this bug. Interesting!

So I guess I should get some new Sound Roms then? I have a mix of SL-1 & PA-1 sound roms currently. What is correct?

Ah okay. I think I'm good then. Never noticed any silence or anything during multi-ball. Interesting bug.

#633 5 days ago

Still really fresh to this game but I have a question. Is there a way to Lock balls in the mouse hole? I see that there's 3 "mouse hole lock" switches in the matrix. But I'm not sure how you would go about locking them in there.

Thanks!

SmartSelect_20200325-163827_Drive (resized).jpg
#634 5 days ago

No, there isn't any way to use that lock. I'm guessing they were planning on it at some point but decided against it. Kind of a shame, it would have been cool to see all the balls come out of there one after the other, but the mouse trap locks are definitely cooler.

#635 5 days ago

The abillity for the game to detect more balls in the mouse hole, and thus to hold more balls in multilball or lock balls in single ball play, was likely just scraped from the design. And scraped so late in developement, that the game was manufactured with these.

And frankly, good the same. I can see it being rather confusing and difficult to hide more balls away there. In multiball (all mice to the mouse hole) it would require the feature to be timed. As it contains an element of single ball play during multiball. Which is fine (great actually, hi TS and I500). But has to be timed.

All mice to the hole to collect jackpot: Way too difficult. And what should happen if you drain to two balls.

First mouse collect jackpot and 2nd and 3rd is double/trible the JP: Way too many points. But 2nd and 3rd could give a smaller reward of some sort.

BTW. It is very important that the mouse hole entry switch is working. Otherwise the game can end up in a state where the ball is not released from the hole as it should.

These are the correct switch numbers. The manual is ambiguous.

No, not enough. You see the confusion is complete chaos. You likely have L-2 for both chips on the sound board. U4 and U19. But because the vendor took the revision number from the WMS readme, it is written wrong.

See my rundown. The L-1 set is the one to use. And it is not to be found in the WMS ROM pack. Only the PinMAME one in IPDB. And both have filenaming wrong.

When I'm playing mine, it does seem like it will hold the ball for a few seconds while it does a call-out and start the Cheezy Bonus. Does the mouse hole actually hold the ball for a moment, or is it just my imagination?

Also, does anyone know what size headbolts I need for Mousin'. Mine never came with any, and I'm beginning to get unnecessarily paranoid about it!

Can anyone offer any advice as far as adjusting my diverter mech? It seems to work pretty well when I manually move it, but when the coil does the work it seems like it's getting hung up and I cant figure out why. Is that possibly the wrong spring to return it back when the coil disengages?

Anyone notice anything unusual??

#642 2 days ago
Quoted from dozer1:

Can those coil stops get magnetized and cause that? I have had that happen on flippers before, but no other mechs.

#643 2 days ago

I figured it out. It WAS that dang spring. Someone put an old conical flipper spring in there. It didnt have enough strength to push the diverter mech back all the way.

Working great now.

Funny thing I just noticed though. My 1 and 3 switches for the raising targets are wired backwards. I dont care enough to go change them right now though. Maybe later. Now I can finally play this game correctly!
