I used to think Whirlwind was my favorite System 11 pin.. But I now know that Mousin' Around actually tops that list.

Here's what I love about it:

Tons of flow: Even the dead-end shots seem to flow back to the flippers quickly and smoothly.
Great soundtrack: The songs are fun, catchy, but not cloying.
Build your own Jackpot: Kick it up to 5,000,000. It's hard to get, but really satisfying when you do.
Great game mechanics: Drop targets that capture a ball. Has that been done before or since? HOW COOL!!!!
Speed and more speed. This pin is flat-out-fast!

So this thread is for owners to discuss the greatness of the game, as well as pics of mods, repairs, LED conversions (mine still has incandescent bulbs in it, so I'm looking for guidance) and anything else you'd like to discuss.

THOSE DARN MICE!

Great game- think you might have my old mousin around- did you buy it from Dwayne in Muskegon.

#3 9 years ago

I'm a fan also. This was my first pin and I just bought a second mousin' around recently. I'm working on combining the two into one really nice machine. I even found some new cabinet decals for the project.

I did buy it in Muskegon! That was yours? Why did you ever sell it?

#5 9 years ago

I adore this game. If anyone in SoCal wants to sell one let me know!

Really liked the game, but like many of us I was limited by space and funds- so sold it to get something else.
Funny because when I saw his for sale ad- I contacted him to buy it back because I missed it- but he told me it was already gone- so I bought his Black Knight.

Why isn't the title of this thread "SO you want to mouse around?" Some fans you are.

That was a nice Black Knight, too.

Thanks for taking such good care of the Mousin' Around. Great condition, and the touch ups on the playfield are really nice... If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it, and how long did you own it?

#10 9 years ago

I am a former Mousin owner and addict. I have still not recovered. Whether it was Spiderman, or Tron, the lowering of a 3 target bank had me hooked on Mousin. I had night sweats, about getting the ball into the backbox, the progressive loops and lane returns were a high, and the ultimate rush of locking both in the cheese and hitting the jackpot.....uuuhhh...shivers.....
Great lighting and sound track.....I want my mousin back.....I need help.

Had it for about a year. Got it from a guy in the ann arbor area found it through an ad on rgp. He did all the work to it- I just enjoyed playing it.

#12 9 years ago

Love all the system 11 games, Mousin is awesome, but the best is Transporter: the Rescue.

#13 9 years ago

I am an owner, so I am an official member. Love the game, exciting, fun, addictive.

Just saw these come up on e-bay if anybody is looking for some. I've never seen these offered state side yet, mine came from some dude all the way in Croatia.

Thanks for the link, bighurb...

My cabinet is perfect other than a really faded front decal. If someone has a source for just that decal, I'd love to hear from them.

#16 9 years ago

We are a member... Just got ours a couple months back.... Great game. Fun for all....

#17 9 years ago

Fun game! Its hard to find a nice cabinet on one of these. I'm looking for a really nice Mousin' Around if one is out there...

I didn't realize there was a small following of this pin. I actually just picked one up the other day. It (sort of) worked when I bought it - the displays weren't working, and in order to get it a credit, the previous owner kept on having to turn the machine on and off until he heard the free game cabinet knock.

I managed to get it home and now all I get is the back box lights, some of the above playfield lights, but none of the under playfield, and that's as far as it gets. Sometimes there's music on the start up, but most times not. None of the service buttons seem to work, and when I open up the back box, the diagnostic led is constantly flashing.

Any advice on where and what I should be checking first? All the wires and plugs looks good, and I've pulled each one and shot it with contact cleaner. None of the connections look burned or corroded.

I just want to get this machine up and running. Thanks for reading my post.

#19 9 years ago

Havn't played it for twenty odd years but would really like to so I can remember why it was an all time favourite. SOOO, yer wanna mouse arOOUUnd?!!!

What is 'mousing around' anyway? Being sneaky?

Anyone know where I can find replacement brackets for the cheese traps? The blue plastic bracket that holds the lock assembly together.

#22 9 years ago

I've never played one. I watched some videos recently and it looks like a super cool game. So many ramps and so much flow for a System 11. Great use of the theme too! The traps and the cheese and the hole in the wall. Very cool. I'd love to play or own it one day.

#23 9 years ago

I own 8 sys 11 pins. MA is probably one of the best.

#24 9 years ago

no one seems to know anything about the cheese trap mounting brackets? Really?

#25 9 years ago

I don't know about the mounting brackets, however, the blue plastic trap, under playfield on both sides, cracked on mine. My son & I glued them back together. Are you referring to those?

#26 9 years ago

Yea that's what I'm referring to, I'm concerned about the reliability of those and being able to put it under heavy use in my arcade.
So far I have seen absolutely no trace of those parts anywhere online.

#27 9 years ago

I know it is a long shot, but does anybody have a spark left ramp sitting around?

#28 9 years ago

I don't have the machine, but I love the artwork so much that I did pick up a Mousin' Around backglass at Expo. Now mounted on the wall in my office and it looks fantatic....

Finally picked one up! I've got a lot of work ahead of me, doing a full restore of cab / clear coat playfield etc. I may start a new thread once I get a little further along. Awesome pin! Current progress -

I'm also looking for a couple plastics - most notable is the R sling

Neat! What are you going to use for cabinet artwork ?

#32 9 years ago

Pin came with a full set of uninstalled decals that were custom made - hopefully they work!

#33 9 years ago

I have a MA that I made from a populated pf, plus the game I had, so it is just perfect. LED lights make a huge difference under the inserts. Here's an idea for ya'll. Police force is the perfect compliment game for it. They are similar but different. they look great together. The music on MA is the best!!!!

I had 2 exrea mouse trap assemblies because I knew they would be really hard to find, but someone talked me out of them for like 40 each, so if you keep your eyes open, you will find them.

Enjoy!!!!

#34 9 years ago

Making some progress got the first decal on - whoever made the cab decals made them about 1/3" short - so there is a little extra black at the back, not much I can do about that.

Great game with a ton of flow! I wish I could find one with a decent cabinet.

Thanks - it's by no means perfect, as the decals are a little wonky - maybe from being stored for so long? And they were also cut a little funny - start button doesn't quite line up. But still should look pretty sweet!

Shopped mine out recently and added LEDs to it..

#39 8 years ago

Looks great; nice seeing what the GI playfield lights look like (the one problem I still need to fix on mine).

#40 8 years ago

So I was able to finally fix the nagging GI issue I was having and in doing so found time to put most of my LEDs in the machine. To those that have done this, did you have any issue with the lights below the "cheezy bonus when lit" insert at the base of the right ramp? There are 2 bayonet lamps underneath wired in series; wired differently from all of the other lamps.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you think the theme of this game was made in order to fit into Chuck E Cheeses? I mean the game play is really cool but it somehow reminds me of Chuck E Cheeses, even though Chuck is really a RAT.

Hmmm - I kinda doubt it, and hope not.

Picked up a players condition machine a couple weeks ago for $700 and we're lovin' it! I can't believe all the different things going on? It really is a fun game to play 5 or 6 times in a row.

Recent member of this club, but have been looking for one for a while. Mine has a very nice playfield, already LED'd, nice translite, but the cabinet is pretty rough. Please let me know where one might acquire decals if they ever become available. Also, what kind of bulbs are you guys using in your pops. I'm not very happy with the ones that came with it because they are to direct, create a spot, and do not light up the entire cap nicely. Also, if anyone has any extra sling plastics, let me know. Mine aren't terrible, but I'd like to replace them. Thanks

Great game and a real sleeper for those who do not know about it. My kids love it and I can already tell that it's going to be around for a long time.

#47 8 years ago

Made some more progress this weekend - got the head on and all boards back in and everything hooked up except the playfield. Still need to fully shop the playfield and replace one dead switch, but feeling good that when I plugged in the playfield outside of the cab nothing smoked and it appears everything is pretty much functional!
