DP new song, Get lucky, is not good...
but I like almost every other song he has, even the one with Kanye West.

It wouldn't fly. A flavor-of-the-month band that is largely unknown to the general public would not sell a lot of games. (Yes, YOU may be a fan, but most people haven't heard of them at all, and there's little legacy associated with them.) For example: Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Metallica, Daft Punk. The majority of people will have heard of 3 of them. Guess which one will be most unrecognizable? It's like saying I'd like to see a Thomas Dolby pin made. (who?)

    #8 6 years ago

I didn't think it'd be possible for there to be a worse pin theme than Shaq Attaq or Shrek, but this might be it.

    #9 6 years ago

I'm all over this. Daft punk compelled me to want Tron but I can't get into gameplay. Futuristic, techno art and toys. Like an original theme. Don't see it happening though.

I'd like to see that one. Also a Kraftwerk pin

Just thought of a cool idea to mod Strange Science with TD "She blinded me with science" as music.

Love Dolby. Make a "80s retro" pin. Depeche , new order, cure, etc. fits the demographic. We are in our 40s. Must it always be metal. Love ac/dc though Iron maiden? Blecchhhh!

Yeah i had no idea the entire hobby was comprised of metal heads.

You probably shouldn't bother with the new album if you were only in it for synth stuff. From what I understand the new album is about 99% live performance, so....yeah. I think it's great for them to branch out a little, especially if it means it ain't like 8 years between albums.

Do I want one? Hell yes, Daft Punk is one of my favorite artists of the last decade. Perfect upbeat music for pinball. Incredible art potential. Will it ever happen? Not a chance.

I'm just glad Creed imploded before they got a pin. Their guitarist is reportedly a pinball collector. Shame about the music.

A Daft Punk pin with music and art based off their Interstella 5555 anime would be incredible. To DP fans it would be amazing, to others unfamiliar it would just be an awesome original new pin with a great soundtrack. They wouldn't even have to know the music to get into the animated sci-fi theme of this pin.

Oh I don't know. While not at the album sales of those other 3 bands, I bet you most people under 30 will have more Daft Punk songs on their iPods than ACDC. But thats also not the pinball market.

    #21 6 years ago

Just listening to that yesterday in the car.

    #22 6 years ago

Damn this daydreaming! Now I've got 4 drop targets in my head that each say Harder,Better,Faster,Stronger when hit. :p

    #23 6 years ago

Daft Punk could be a great pin or an awful one. Same with most themes. There are very few themes I wouldn't enjoy if done well.

These threads are pointless. It's just people saying what things they like.

I have one already. Tron LE

    Do keep up mnpinball.

    #26 6 years ago

I sold Tron mostly because of Daft Punk music.

    #27 6 years ago

Lol, I had no idea this was a band. I just figured it was a Tron LE thing and nothing more...pass.

    #28 6 years ago

Wow... I liked the music in tron....but this other stuff sounds like a '70's laundry detergent commercial.

Flavour of the month? They've been huge since 1996 when Da Funk was a hit then 1997 when Around The World became big with that awesome video and Homework became a commercial and critical success. Thomas Dolby is a ridiculous comparison to make and although they haven't been around as long as AC/DC or Metallica I'm sure they have just as big a fanbase.

The most important thing is that they sound much better than both those bands. Plus they are electronic which suits pinball more than Rock n Roll or Metal.

Instead of crowbarring Daft Punk tracks into a game I'd rather the guys work in partnership with the pinball designers to create all the sfx and music for an original themed game based around the band. It's never going to happen but I can dream.

    #31 6 years ago

we have a Daft punk machine. tron, all the music was created by them. I remember watching that Around the World video on MTV back in the day, I actually recorded it on my VHS. lmao. I would love to see a daft punk machine, its not going to happen

imo one of the greatest stern music themes EVER. only reason I still have mine. the gameplay and depth is what lacks

The Tron: Legacy soundtrack was composed by Daft Punk but the actual finished score was arranged and orchestrated by Joseph Trapanese and was a two year long collaboration so some credit has to go to him.

Seeing a Daft Punk pin would mean we are really witnessing a pinball renaissance aimed at a younger audience than the average Pinsider like me.

    I would love it.

    #35 6 years ago

Good point. ACDC and Metallica are a bit 40 year old blokey... as opposed to the 30 year old Daft Punk fans...

    #36 6 years ago

I would take it over Hair Metal just as a change of pace; sure.

    #37 6 years ago

Daft Punk would be good. A bigger market may be found with one for The Prodigy.
