    Quoted from lowepg:

Finally got notice my ACDC Premium is scheduled for delivery tomorrow
(the ONLY way to get me excited about April 15th in YEARs!)
Just curious if you all that are "old-hat" at buying these NIB pins are generally tipping your freight guy (assuming the thing isn't trashed!).
Also, does anyone open it ASAP to check for damage? Or simply inspect the box condition?
Lastly, my gameroom is around the back of my house. it's down a gentle slope, into a walk-in basement. You think I could bribe the delivery guy to cart it back there (across the lawn ).

I currently have 8 pins in my walkout basement. I have flagstone steps which go down the South side of my house to the basement and yes I always tip (2 guys) to have them bring it down very carefully.

Since the movers are not required to deliver it down stairs (or a slope) to your walkout basement you need to negotiate up front with them and let them know how much you will be tipping them to move it to your walkout basement. I have never had a problem getting the guys to bring it down the stairs after I let them know how much I will be tipping them ($25-$30 per mover for a total of $50-$60).

The movers also lift the machine onto a couple of padded bar stools and stay while I put the legs on the pin and then they lift it off of the padded bar stools and place it onto the floor and from there I put furniture movers under each leg and can easily slide the pin into its proper place in my lineup. It really works pretty well. If I had to hire a couple of guys off the street to come over to my house to carry the pin down the stairs to my walkout basement it would likely cost more than $50-$60 and I wouldn't be getting professional movers either.

After spending several thousand dollars on a NIB machine or a restoration, spending another $50-$60 to tip 2 delivery guys to go above and beyond is well worth it to ensure that my new machine arrives without any dings on it.
