The amazing thing in all of this is that prices don't seem to have dropped all that much for the original MM or AFM games. As long as the new parts hold up for the remakes, they should last a good long while too.

Anybody know the yields on the current remakes?

Quoted from kst8cat:

I would think Indiana Jones would be in the mix there. Prices on that have gone up a lot the past couple of years. At one time I was seriously considering buying one, but now with the price increases I would rather wait and see if it gets remade.

Now that is a game where the license may be prohibitively expensive...

AFM and mm did not have any sort of license expense line, so I'm wondering how much of an additional markup MB may incur, even if the license itself is nominal

I would love for this to actually happen!

Man how cool would a FH remake would be - have gotten into that game recently - another classic!

Quoted from ChadKeller:

MM's fully restored were selling north of $15k, heck we sold some for $18k to $20k before. The same game goes for $10k now. Prices did go down.

Interesting. I'm curious what the average high-end-but-not-glitzed-out version of the game is now selling for? still in the 10s, I guess like you said. That's at least sort of in the realm of being a realistic price

Quoted from Spencer:

Would someone please explain to me why CGC would redo, Wh2o, ToM, FH, CFTBL, etc when you can buy all these titles in fantastic condition for reasonable prices right now!
MM? yup I get it, AFM? sure, MB? of coarse, CC? yup. BBB? clearly!
I just don't see the point of remaking games that sell for reasonable rates now and frankly are not hard to find either....

Have they said they are going to remake these? Retooling everything for games like these, with likely fewer sales doesn't seem to make sense...

Quoted from rvdv:

With Universal doing the "dark universe" run it will happen
As long as they don't put Tom Cruise face on it

This seems to me like the exact opposite reason they would want to do a remake - they are trying to do "modern" versions, and I could actually see them denying the license! Universal isn't run by geniuses anymore (they are owned by Comcast... see that thread...)

Meet the Micro folk at a couple shows now. Nice people, great product. They had a batch of MB, and many more. Really pumping these playfields out now working with PPS. Many new titles ive never seen anywhere.

I"m confused. Does Mirco do the playfields, or is CGC doing them?

#105 6 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

I wonder if CGC could do what Stern has done and update a layout with new art, rules, and dots?
A new DW based on the new series would be pretty cool. They would have the perfect number of doctors if they start with 8 (not really classic who but not new series either and he was not in the original game) and include whoemever Capaldi will regenerate into this Christmas.

Posting some updates on that front soon. Not *exactly* what you have in mind but it really improves the game in a huge way...

Also Paul McGann did appear on the new series as Doctor 8; he regenerates into the War Doctor (john hurt). Plus he has done hours and hours of audio dramas for the BBC as the 8th. even the worst one is miles better than that awful movie he did.

Agreed ... afm and mm are much better than mb . I am actually letting mine go soon .

Kind of the same feeling I've had lately. LOVE the theme, but I play my CFTBL wayyyy more..

You know where to find me for a potential MB / MMr trade deal....I'd consider it and we live soooo close

I've got some ideas... still waiting on that PF But if you wanna come check it out after the 4th maybe we can try something!

Why would the licensing for MB be hard? Pinball Arcade got it pretty easily back in the day, I think it was one of the first tables they put out, before they got into the whole kickstarter thing for "difficult" licenses like TZ and T2. You think Universal's failing attempt to relaunch it's "Universal Monsters" line is going to muck things up somehow?

Universal is BIG, which is one reason I can think of. They seem to be ok with slapping the Monsters on a lot of products, but it probably costs a percentage of sales, and I bet it has to be approved. May be a pain, vs a game like CC which is wholly owned. Seems like the other games which were not licensed did well

I'd love if they remade WH2O, still love that game. I am not sure if they have to recreate all the ramp molds and stuff m, vs Mb which seems to me to have a lot smaller BOM. There's the figures and a couple of wireforms and... um... plastics? Even the frank table isn't that many pieces really. Drac's motor and that arm might be a pain. Man I would love if TOM was remade!! That's my vote

Perhaps you should go back and actually read these posts this time around! I take it you don’t do board work. If you think diagnosing and repairing smd node boards is doable for most diy pinheads you truly have no clue. And what do you not get about future availability being a problem if said boards can’t be repaired?

A much bigger issue will be if we see an issue like the unobtanium chips in the WPC95 A/V boards, which just flat out don't exist any more. So if you can solder but don't have the necessary chip, repair skills mean nothing.

The good news, at least for the A/V boards, is now we have the PinSound solution..: but that took what, 20 years!

Quoted from ypurchn:

At the 7-low 8 range they keep selling for, it’s going to be hard to justify going with a remake. I’ll take the tried and true for 20 years machine

Ironically, they're only in the 7s and 8s because of the remake. But I'm with ya - original all the way! CGC has been upping the ante with the extra large DMD on AFM so maybe they have another surprise up their sleeve for MB

#164 6 years ago
Quoted from Nepi23:

It would be so nice if they offered a MB alternatively with the "planked" playfield similar to this project:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/custom-planked-monster-bash-project

I would really have to think hard about that - that game looks so amazing it might be worth considering the trade-up!

naah...

Quoted from Djshakes:

They will Remake because I just bought an original.

lol tell me about it - I stand to lose about 2K in decals, new PF when that game drops!

Quoted from Yelobird:

Your never really going to loose anything as you will still have an Awesome game! If you bought anything pinball as an investment or 401k your in the wrong hobby. Plus you get the pride of accomplishment and effort you don't get NIB. Sadly I enjoy restoring them often more than playing sometimes.... Its therapeutic!

I like your attitude . I’m really excited about seeing a kickass game once I finish every thing - just now starting on the cabinet
