Not a smoker but my dad is a 40+ year smoker. I've tried talking to him multiple times about quitting, nothing has stuck and he quickly changes the topic. He once tried Chantix and didn't like the way it made him feel. Every time I see him smoke it hurts as I'm always wondering how much longer he will be around. I remember as a kid hiding his cigarettes to get him to quit, that didn't go well lol!
Hell, on my great uncle's death bed, his uncle, who was dying of emphysema due to smoking told my dad "you don't have to go through this, there's still time". That was over 10 years ago and my dad is still smoking...Pisses me off really as I think it selfish for him to keep smoking knowing how much it would hurt my family to lose him. Just trying to enjoy the time I have with him now as he may never quit.
