    Quoted from MrBally:

I have one of those myself. Bought from the Johnson Smith Co. Catalog in the mid-'70's. Paid 59 cents for it. Real ones were worth aboot $10k back then.

    What are they worth now?

    $60,000 to $85,000.

    Quoted from mcluvin:

Found a crisp $100 bill under the leg of my stool while sitting at a slot machine. A really old lady had been playing next to me for a long time, but got up and moved before I found it. She was playing with cash out of bank envelope, so I was pretty sure it was hers. Casino worker found her. I asked her if she had possibly lost any money. She starts counting her crisp $100s. I knew it was hers so gave it to her. Casino worker told me I should have just kept it. Ha! If I had no idea whose it was, I would have.

    What casino?

If a magnet picks it up, you got something.

And as for the original question,
    Absolutely!
    Always have, always will.

It was a casino in Biloxi. I can't remember the name.

I always pick up any change I see regardless of its denomination.

One time my brother and I, are waiting at the bar to order some drinks. In a dark nightclub, lit in blues and greens. I look down and see a 20 on the floor. So I move my foot on top of it, as nothing had happened. While talking to my Brother, he finally says, Hey! Ass hole are you going to pick up that 20 or not! Which I replied, "yep drinks are on me for a while! We both looked around, the coast was clear, then I picked it up, it was just $5, we both laughed.

    #66 5 years ago

I do - just found one yesterday in the parking lot!

Couple years ago went for lunch with a couple buddies. We all got lunch special of a pizza slice and a soda. Total left like 1 or 2 cents change. They both tossed their change down on counter for someone else. I kept my money.

Took change out of pocket later on and found that this 1888 penny was one of my coins I recieved.

I always keep my change and pick up anything I see on ground.

    Quoted from MrBally:

MrsBally sat on a jury where someone picked up aboot $400.00 laying on the floor in a Detroit casino.
He was found guilty of a Felony. Even with that "low" amount.
Finders keepers does not apply in a Michigan, non-Tribal casino.

    Guilty of finders keepers.

Love those old Indian Heads ( is that still pc to say?). I've got a few... somewhere.

I think it would only be a native american head if it was reused on a modern coin

If that was an 8 over 7 1888, you could probably call it whatever you like.

I had a grandfather who used to say things to us as kids about noticing your surroundings and things. At one point he made a comment something like if you're going to be gazing up or gazing down, always look down because money doesn't fall up...

    Lol

    #75 5 years ago

No,and If I find them on the shelf in my kitchen,I throw them in the trash. I don't know why my wife puts them there? Several years ago,I finally found out why my garbage disposal was so noisy, there was a penny jammed inside of the thing for years.I'll be glad, when they stop making them.

I’m amazed how many quarters I find in the coin returns in machines at the local pinball bar.

Funny thing - some of the guys glued a quarter to the floor at the same pinball bar just to see how many people stop to pick it up. It’s crazy to watch how many people go for it and their reaction when they realize it ain’t goin’ nowhere.

I'd bring my floor chisel with me, the next time I want there.

Heads up only, however if it’s tails up I always turn it over for the next finder. Karma.

    #79 5 years ago

I find dimes more than any other coin.

    Quoted from mjs2:

I make a remark if I'm with someone and it's heads up....but I pick it up either way, so I don't know what the point of the remark is.
    Lol

A former boss had a rule that heads up, you keep it and get good luck, tails up you give it to someone else immediately and then you both have good luck. I’ve carried on the tradition, and it usually makes people smile.

    Quoted from DaWezl:

tails up you give it to someone else immediately

And they look at you kind of funny and think "cheapskate".

Which reminds me of the elderly gentleman that after I fixed his car he would hand me a quarter and say "put this in your pocket". lol. Last of the big spenders.

No penny's in Canada anymore , so we pick up nickles

    #84 5 years ago
    Quoted from chad:

    Guilty of finders keepers.

Yeah, I just kinda figure when I'm at a casino having a good time, I'm usually not in the clearest state of mind. If I look down and see money, I must have dropped it. Now if I see someone else drop it, then I pick it up and keep it. Prosecuting that makes sense to me.

    #85 5 years ago

if you walk by a penny and dont pick it up i think it gives you bad luck. i pick them up.
if you have 999,999.99 without that penny you will never have a million dollars playas!

    #86 5 years ago

    Not anymore...

    #87 5 years ago

Let's just say it's a hobby of mine.

Don't forget the dog poop on the dollar trick.

    #89 5 years ago

I'm more the type who glues a quarter to the floor, the entertainment is worth far more than the quarter...

    #90 5 years ago

There was couch at work guys slept on & their loose change & sometimes bills would fall under the cushions. We used to put those fake $5 bills with advertising on one side under the cusions so the coin sniffers would think they they hit the mother load

    #91 5 years ago

Watch where you pick them up at

someone got fired working at a vault for picking one up

Even though they were in a hallway way away from it.

Strict policies at banks even loose pennies

    Typically don’t pickup pennies
    Nickels or dimes maybe

    Quarter and above absolutely

    #92 5 years ago

Also throw in my two cents on finding loose money

If I see someone drop it I would definitely always try to give it back to them
Keeping it would just be wrong even if they just accidentally dropped it

If I find it in a crowd I pick it up and look tentatively around for anyone looking for something for at least a little while. Then it would belong to me

    #93 5 years ago

I'm not big on change. I only pay cash in places that have some sort of charity bin at the register, so I can drop all the non-folding money in. Otherwise I usually just chuck the pennies in the parking lot and keep the silver stuff in the center console.

    #94 5 years ago

I forego the one on the ground and help myself to the ones in the dish at the gas station. They have been picked up for me!

I remember as a kid my dad had a strange looking penny (or 2) in his coin tray in his dresser. I thought it was made of lead or steel, maybe copper. It was a lighter color, not copper at all. Maybe steel..I wish I could remember better.

It was sort of covered earlier today.

In WWII the copper was used for the war effort so pennies were made out of steel.
