How about the orbit in Indy 500? The zoom sound of a racecar speeding past you as the ball zips round the orbit is a pretty good sound reward IMO. Follow it with an upper-flipper slam into the turbo.

Sorry, should have clarified. The reason I was even asking rather than telling is because it has no spinner. But when you appeared to qualify the reason for a spinner being 'sound reward' I realised that spinners aren't exclusive in offering a good sound reward.

Only the left orbit goes the whole way round with optional upper flipper. Right orbit goes to saucer with VUK.

Good question! The earliest I can think of off the top of my head is HS2 where the ramp drops down to lock the ball. I'm sure there are much earlier examples.

To diverter the ball off an orbit you could use either a simple ball guide diverter, drop-down ramp, magnet, pop up post, or controlled gates (usually used to send the ball into rollover lanes).
