Quoted from pinlink:You're right. E sports numbers are insane. 100 viewers for the best pinball streams is disappointing. Of course the number of players of a game like Fortnite or Call of Duty are probably 10,000x the total number of pinball players in the world.
The biggest tournaments like pinburgh will have more like 600 watching live I believe. NYCPC had 5,000 views within a week of the event (and 7,500 now, and it’s just a long 10 hour block that was never edited/improved) so clearly people are interested and tuning in.
I remain far less concerned about how few people watch Pinball streams compared to overwatch than I am with thinking about how we can improve broadcasts and make them more fun to watch.
As far as I can tell there are more people doing it than ever and the production quality seems to be improving, so the idea that nobody likes/gives a Shit about these broadcasts is news to me. Seems like it’s increasing in popularity and frequency - almost all medium-sized and up tournaments I’ve been to lately have had a streaming team on hand.
Streaming is on the upswing. Lead, watch, or get out of the way of this eSports freight train baby!
