I guess it should be safe to assume all you anti-vaxxers also support abortion?

You have that backwards. I'd wager most vaccine band wagoners support the killing of the unborn some even after it makes it out of the womb trying to gets it's first breath.

And why would you wager that, exactly?

Because both are the main stream indoctrinated stance.

Quoted from DRDAVE:

Better than pretending to be a know it all asshat. Which appears to be your choice.

I'm literally the opposite. I'm openly admitting that scientists and Doctors know more than me.

You on the other hand...

And how do we determine that yours is not simply the fringe indoctrinated stance?

You know that arguing with the crazy uncle at thanksgiving gets you nowhere right?

Ask them. There are only 2 guys that seem to want to play along. So what is it, fosaisu and Pinfactory, do you or do you not support a woman's "right to choose" or infanticide as I like to call it? Answer up..

You see, it all boils down to linguistic wizardry. Once you see how the trick works, it stops working. But when you believe the magic, you fight hard for your belief. Notice how their arguments always devolve into straw-men and ad hominem attacks. It's just because they don't want to accept how deeply they've bought into the bullshit. I find that people who make their living from man-made constructs like insurance, banking, real-estate, finance, government, "management", etc. are always most heavily invested into the mainstream mass media claims. OTOH, people who make their livings off reality, like mechanics, farmers, construction, engineers, tend to see the bullshit they are force-fed much more clearly.... I think it's known as "buying into the lie". It usually pays a little better, too.

Dude. It’s ok. You have a terrible credit score and don’t believe in science. It’s not the end of the world. Talk about a try hard endlessly propping up a house of cards belief system that’s been debunked over and over and over LOL

(Btw, the people you mentioned ‘buying into’ science also happen to be highly educated. But this probably plays into your next conspiracy theory about liberal indoctrination camps)

Quoted from Spyderturbo007:

I don't get the flu shot, but my wife does. She got one on Thursday. By Sunday, she had a huge 4" diameter swollen circle on her arm at the site of the injection. By Tuesday she was complaining of a sore throat. As of yesterday she was laid up on the couch and will be calling off work for the next few days.
Take it for what it's worth, but every year she gets the flu shot and almost every year she gets sick within a few days.

Yup, same here. I do not get a flu shot since that happned both times I got the shot.

#1518 4 years ago

Happy to say I survived two trips into the norovirus old folks home and did not get ill.

I also survived many more trips past where they are luring in young and old to get their flu shots and also did not get ill.

Cheers on evading the norovirus, it's not much fun. I assume you took appropriate precautions and avoided "fraternizing" with the ladies in the bridge club until the epidemic subsided?

Anyone that has a supreme logo and isn’t being ironic can scare away any virus without medicine!

The irony might be that I use my own mind in regards to what I do with my body, not what some so called experts in the field that I have never met think I ought to.

Everyone in this thread is indeed a “so called expert.” But there are people that study this shit for a living, and I’m willing to concede that they’ve put in the time and effort to know more about it than I do. Just the same as my electrician knows a lot more about wiring and city code than I do. Doesn’t mean they’re always right, but if the word “expert” has any meaning at all, that’s what they are.

#1526 4 years ago

There are plenty of experts out there inventing and making crap most of the world will never use or need. I must have seen that Pocket Fisherman ad 1000 times and never even had the urge to go buy one. I'm sure plenty of people did though. The one that almost got me was the Spanek Vertical Roaster.

No dude. I never even bought that book from that dude in the 90s that told me " By placing one tiny classified ad, I can show you how to make more money than you ever possibly imagined"

#1530 4 years ago

Don Lapre. I bet you guys forgot all about that dude. I've been trying to come up with his name for months. Used to come on during Gilbert Gottfried's up all night and other highly rated shows.

Ouch! Did not know this.

"Lapre died on October 2, 2011, while in jail awaiting his trial, which was scheduled to begin on October 4, 2011. The autopsy report stated that he died of massive blood loss after cutting his throat with a razor blade and had wrapped himself in sheets to conceal the massive blood loss from anyone who might try to save him"

He says bowing to corporate logos and quoting terrible summer 'blockbuster' movies.

Oh, and those so called experts are ACTUALLY experts. I get that people need to feel special but a virus is a virus. Even if its attacking someone as special as you.

More like bowing to hard sell TV ads for shit I have no use for while watching said movies.

Speaking of TV ads, how come every medication they are pimping hard they always give you the long list of possible side affects except on those hard sell flu shot ads. Are they exempt for some reason?

You've been seeing ads for the flu shot on TV by manufacturers/pharmas? Weird. I've seen places that advertise as HAVING the flu shot to give but nothing for the shot itself.

Maybe its a CA thing.

#1535 4 years ago

Yeah I've seen commercials from local health organizations urging you to get a shot but I've never seen them actually selling the shot before.

#1536 4 years ago

Oh yeah, they've been pimping this stuff hard on TV lately. To be fair, they do warn you mostly not to get it if you ever had an adverse reaction before. I just see it like another Don Lapre, giving me a line of BS that I can see right thru.

Really? Can you post a video? Would be interesting to see a pharma ad for a flu shot. Thanks

Edit: Found one

https://www.ispot.tv/ad/oUKg/fluzone-high-dose-superior-protection

It has all of the side effects etc. right in the ad...?

Here are the FDA requirements for ads...Seems they complied. https://www.fda.gov/drugs/prescription-drug-advertising/basics-drug-ads#risk_disclosure

Be honest here. Did I just burst one of your thanksgiving dinner rants?

#1538 4 years ago

A few pages back, in case you missed it, RGOCL posted all kinds of screen shots.

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/do-you-get-a-sesonal-flu-shot/page/23#post-5274224

And yes, I must have confused the Fluzone ads with all the generic ads in regards to fair warnings. Just wrote them all off like some kind of Billy Mays coke fueled rants. The more they try to sell me on them, the less interested I am.

Quoted from Pinfactory2000:

You're kidding, right?

Do you think Walmart or Fluzone trying to push a product on me makes me notice a difference in if they are following fda requirements?

Those are screenshots from one of the most shown, scare you into taking it, Fluzone ads.

The generic ads that pimp it similarly, but don't mention any particular brand, don't include the fda warnings.

Took you to point that out to me, but as someone that is not interested in the sales pitch either way, I had a hard time telling the difference.

For what it's worth, before they actually give you the flu shot they also provide you with a write-up of potential side effects (you have to acknowledge looking at it to get your shot). As far as the adds go I'm a little surprised to see adds for specific flu shot manufacturers, since no one really gives a shit about brand name drugs when it comes to vaccines. It's not like we're talking Viagra here.

#1542 4 years ago

There has only been one FDA warning that slightly interests me, but until I can't actually pull it off myself, a pill that gives me a four hour boner has no real use to me.

I love all those other medications where they list a super long grocery list of warnings including "perhaps even death" and people still want to take it.

Life is a terminal condition. If a drug can extend it or make its quality materially better but there is a lightning strikes chance it could kill you, lots of people are willing to take that chance.

I posted a video of the ads. It lists the warnings as well as how to get all of the potential side effect info.

80,000 a year in the US die from the flu every season. Thats 500% more the number that die from HIV...So yeah...Its kinda a big deal.

I guess that's where we differ.

I know we will all die someday, but I don't live life like it is a terminal condition. I see the best years are ahead of me. And I would only take a pharmaceutical drug if I had an urgent conditon that warranted it.

Well, if water came with a warning list...death would be one.

Water does come with a warning list...for American tourists while in Mexico.

Don Lapre could have found a way to bottle that water and market it. Although the FDA wasn't too thrilled with his "The Greatest Vitamin in the World" campaign.

Be honest though. You actually thought there was some conspiracy around flu advertisements.

Come on. You can admit it now. It’s over.
