But they are making the millions of shots that everybody needs, so expect some margin of error. They factor that all in I'm sure.

It's not the science that should scare people. It's the human factor.

Just think how many hands those shots have been through before they get to the little stand set up next to MickyDs where the able person shoots it into your arm at the local Walmart.

#1005 4 years ago

the human factor (idiot/funky) is concerning, I ain't taking one of those shots , never have, never will
have to admit that if the fed gov has its finger in it I ain't taking part

Over 30 years ago my doctor talked me into a flu shot. I got sick right after that, bad sick. I don't know about now, but back then the shot gave you the flu virus so your system could whatever.
Hell no, I hate shots anyway, and I know other precautions I can take.

If its not broke, don't break it, my body included.

Yeah, as I have to spray this organic pesticide on my Sumo tree every week just to keep the damn leaf miners from eating it alive. There is a fungus too, but I've got to take care of the leaf miners first.

Easily debunked with a quick google...
"Viral shedding is part of the mechanism of virus transmission. Shedding is impossible with killed vaccines or those made using only isolated proteins (most vaccines fall into one of these two classes), but a small number of vaccines contain live attenuated virus which can theoretically infect others."
Small number.

Intetesting had not heard of that...

Just to play devils advocate...for those that don’t want vaccines...why do you go to the doctor and want drugs when you get the illness?

#1022 4 years ago
Quoted from dnapac:

Who says we go to doctors or get the illness? And any medication is self prescribed.

Quoted from o-din:

Fair enough...but there are those who still run to the doctor when they don’t feel good when they believe they have...”the flu”...just saying. I do respect those that stand by their convictions.

Odin’s illness is the constant quest for old pins and he doesn’t go to the doctor for his drugs

If I feel anything coming on NyQuil is about as extreme as I go. I don't even take aspirin.

Back in the mid 80s I had something nasty with a high fever so I couldn't sleep, so I dragged my sorry ass off the couch and down to 7/11 in the middle of the night to get some NyQuil because I had seen it on TV. Stuff knocked me out and I was perfectly fine the next morning.

I don't let myself get rundown like that anymore, so rarely catch any bugs, but still swear by the NyQuil if there is ever an occasion.

Maybe you want a foreign substance with dubious ingredients mainlined into your veins from manufactures that don't stand behind their product,
but I sure don't.

Trust your media. Remember the swine flu vaccine and the big push for it?

#1029 4 years ago

My Drs and multiple specialists advised me that I should never, ever get a flu shot.
Because according to them the risks to my health are just too high. One of the benefits of with living with MS.

Interesting. I too have MS (20 years) and have never been told or read any studies that support this.

Are you on MS modifying prescription drugs?
If so, yes they say it is fine as far as they know. But they also say stay away from vaccines during a relapse. And all live virus vaccines. And consult specialists if on certain MS meds. And avoid being around family members that have had live virus vaccines.
As you know, MS flairs up when your immune system kicks in.
MS is your immune system attacking normal mylen which is on every nerve in your body. It doesn't happen in people except for MS which is a compromised immune system.

If you actually take the time to read all the negative stuff regarding MS in actual Gov sites. All they say is vaccines don't cause MS. But have multiple warnings about taking them after being diognosed. Or while on certain MS meds.

I am MS drug free and have been modifying the disease with diet alone. Symptom free for over a year now.
With no relapses and a huge improvement with my mobility etc.

No: Gluten, dairy, soy, legumes, nuts, nightshades. Reduced salt and sugar. Aspartame is a 100% NO!

It's super strict. And I've lost 100 lbs. But it works.

I’m glad your doing well. I have minimal symptoms. Last relapse was years ago. I’m on the immune modifying drug tecfidera. I do worry about being on long term meds that mess with my immune system....very common to end in bad things like lymphoma...but that’s years down the road. Bottom line, no one knows what causes MS. There are tons of theories being studied, but it’s still unknown. It’s not really a compromised immune system, it’s an immune system that has been triggered to attack the myelin in your CNS. Yes, live virus vaccines carry risk, but they are attenuated (dumbed down...not as strong) as the full disease. The influenza vaccine is a killed virus...impossible to give you influenza (some may have a slight immune response and get achy, but it’s not influenza...no matter what coincidental illness you may get). The only influenza vaccine that isn’t killed is flumist (in the US), the spray up your nose. Cutting out certain chemicals/foods and healthy living is a good idea. Myself, I don’t get enough sleep, have an average diet (but don’t restrict anything in particular), don’t exercise enough, sit in hot tubs, drink alcohol...etc. my neurologist thinks I’m a rock star with how well I’m doing. He says that whatever I’m doing...keep doing it. Bottom line, do what works for you...keep living, don’t hold back or think “I can’t” because I have MS. It’s an exciting time for people with MS...there are more drugs than ever before...but no one still knows why or how to really stop it. Sorry to this thread for hi-jacking it...

That's the problem I have with it. The number of drugs they have. They all have side effects. And none work to stop disease progression.
I think that may be the difference between the U.S. and Canadian pharmaceutical and medical system. They offered my pick of Rebif, Copaxone and one other medication to me free. But also warned me of the risks of taking it.
Where as I don't know what you were told, but according to MS society of Canada. (Screenshots) I'd rather not risk it. And my drs agree.

Sorry about hijack too. Done now.

What happened to the modified olive oil that was the basis for the movie Lorenzo’s oil. Wasn’t that for MS? I remember it did something to heal the myelin sheath around the nerves.

no, but cannibis oil really helps with any random symptoms.

Haven’t heard about this...will look it up. My guess is, if it really worked, People with MS would be taking it and doing better. That said, I do believe that the oceans and rainforests hold answers beyond our imagination...

Yup, pot and lionsmane mushrooms. I'm able to jog and ride a bike again. No brain fog. Can walk for hours. And no symptoms for over a year. Before I was unable to walk without a cane. Had no balance. Had my left leg spasm and shut off regularly. Couldn't move my right hand and had facial palsy. All gone within 3 months of starting taking pot and the mushroom vitamins daily. Along with strict diet.
No prescription meds.
