Colorectal cancer is mostly preventable with adequate and appropriate screening. Understanding your risk determines when and how often you should have colonoscopy. I have a positive family history and polyps so I get one every 3 years. Just had my 4th one.
Healthy low risk individuals can get by with one every 10 years.
A colonoscopy is not fun, but neither is colorectal cancer. As others have stated the unpleasant part is the prep; the procedure itself is no big deal.
