I was playing the other day and noticed that my shot accuracy seems better if I hover over my flipper buttons and only touch them when flipping, so it made me curious what do you all do? Fingers on flipper buttons or hover over the buttons?

I will even Rattle the flippers waiting for the ball. I know that is probably not a good habit but....

I'll usually keep my finger on the button and subconsciously rotate the flipper button around waiting to depress it.

Here is one for you though, do you flip with your index finger or middle finger?

    #5 11 months ago

    Middle finger, more control.

Middle finger, but for some reason when playing and I think about it specifically I always wonder about my left hand.
I think “hey shouldn’t I be using my index on the left and not the middle finger”. Weird.

But always keep finger on the button, I think, gonna go test it now.

Middle finger for me as well.

I catch myself doing this too...

I use my middle finger on the left side, but my index on the right... Maybe that is why I am thoroughly mediocre in tournaments!

    Both as a solid unit

I sometimes give them a couple chimp flips before I put the first ball into play. Lets me know how well they are working. My fingers that is.

I find it fascinating how your brain can switch from using your fingers on a real game to using your thumbs on a tablet without any mental effort whatsoever, for me anyway.

Middle fingers and I rattle them sometimes.

Okay, I tried it, and while it was difficult to find a comfortable way to place my hands, and the physical action of pressing the flipper buttons was weird, having to flex my thumbs sideways rather than in toward my palms like on a tablet, I still had no difficulty or effort required to "remember" I was flipping with my thumbs and not my fingers. Just like on a tablet, my brain rerouted those "flip!" signals from my fingers to my thumbs in the background with no mental effort.

I think I'll keep using my fingers on real pins, though!
