Mowing the lawn was one of my chores growing up and I hated it. My dad would never spring for a decent mower.
I’m more than happy to pay someone else to mow my lawn and keep the yard looking nice. If I had to do it myself I would have bought a condo.

    Quoted from Who-Dey:

You lazy B@stard! Just kidding lol.

I miss those days. I loved being a lazy bastard. Since my wife went back to work after having the baby, my day consists of waking up at 6:30am to take care of my 9 month old son, dropping him off at sister in laws around 4pm where my wife picks him up around 6pm, then I go to work until 3am. Sleep when I can and on my days off. Yard upkeep is not on my radar.

Natural grass is Self cleaning. Fake grass is not something I would ever consider. I don't like the idea of having to shampoo my lawn. I'd much rather pay for the upkeep of real grass. And although the fake stuff looks a lot better than they used to, still needs work.

    Quoted from Sheprd:

14 acres to mow... use diesels and 72" or larger decks...

Where I live, those houses and the acreage they sit on would cost about 10 million apiece.

    Quoted from Marvin:

it may be annoying but running that equipment at 7AM is legal.

Not where I live, and most other cities as well have a 10pm to 8am loud noise ordinance.

    Quoted from TractorDoc:

I still jump a bit when a snake crosses my path, but I do not run from them. Every now and again one of these guys pops up when I am cutting the grass, I will shoo them off or if I have to pick them up and move them. Each time I bump a stick and it moves on the ground I think its a snake the rest of the mow session.

My first snake as a kid was a ribbon snake like that one. In college I bought a Burmese python that I let roam the apartment freely. At night he would always find his way to my bed to curl up on my stomach for warmth. I would keep a rat in his Aquarium with the screen off. When he was hungry he would go back in it.
It was when he was reached about 9 feet long that he bit me on the hand. After I pried him off, he turned and bit the other hand. Then I gave him away.

    Quoted from fosaisu:

Just watch your back, this was evidently Rand Paul's approach to lawn care and he ended up with a punctured lung

Ok, my neighbor has been doing this to me. I have let it go because my Gardener cleans everything up. Also, my neighbor has at least 5 cars and 10 relatives who live with him, and always parks in front of my house. Ususally not a problem because my wife and I park in our driveway. But on trash day, that sob had the nerve to park 2 of his 5 cars in front of my house, while leaving the curb in front of his house free to spread all of his trash cans out for pickup. The garbage man refused to pick up my trash because the neighbors cars were parked to close to the bins and they were afraid of legal liability if the hydraulic claw accidentally hit the neighbors cars. I chased after the garbage truck and got my trash picked up after I tipped them a few bucks to come back. I politely explained the situation to my neighbor and thought we came to an understanding, but sure enough, they pulled the same shit on me this week.
So I moved all of their trash cans off of their curb onto their front lawn and parked both my wife’s and my car in front of their house. I was chomping at the bit expecting them to knock on my door, but haven’t heard from them. I’m hoping they got the message and this is over. I’ll keep you all informed.

Love your message! How'd it go?

Funny you asked, as everything was good until last week when they started up again parking their cars in front of my house on trash day. My father in law actually talked to them. They said it was new relatives that are staying with them and didn't know better. Apparently they have a bunch of extended family who move to L.A. and stay with my neighbors until they get situated. So every few months new cars show up. It sucks.
