Here's the great thing about most mods...they are really easy to remove, and resell...I get the purists all think that "stock" games are better, but its difficult to deny that most of these mods really clean up a game nicely. Any one who states that the old school displays are as good or better than the color dmd are clearly living in the stone age.

I am not worried about the game. What I am dealing with is not life threatening. I have been sitting here for almost 18 hours now and I am bored to death and figured I would ask a question to see a possible solution to removing something I am not familiar with and hopefully kill some time in the process.

    Dude...

Not all of us have ceilings that high, or did you set the pins legs that low.

    No, it really isn't.

For me, they decrease value in a couple scenarios. First, if it ruined the original part. Like powdercoating the coin door...ugh. If I have to go out and buy a replacement for it, value is lowered. Also, if it replaced the original part and the original part that was replaced is not included. Case in point, aftermarket translites. I want the original, don't care in the slightest about a home brew one that someone thinks "looks great", so once again if the original is not included and I have to go out and buy one, value is lowered.

Outside of color dmds, most other mods are just part of the package for me and like others have said, I don't attribute any value to them specifically. I have a dollar amount in mind for the game as a whole, if the sale number is at or below that...we're in business.

It depends on if I want the mod or not.

in answer to the original question- They don't decrease value to me if I'm buying, as long as it revisable with the original parts (which need to be included as well). But I will not pay more for a game with a lot of mods on in because I will be taking them off anyhow. I only put minimal mods on myself such as Cliffy's, ColorDMD and plastic protectors, and that's about it.

There are too many made, or readily available on most titles, that I'm willing to pass until what I'm looking for comes along.

Who knows? It's not my topper. I saw the photo and thought it looked ridiculous. Thought it might fit with the thread.

I always give the buyer the option to buy a game without the colordmd. I can always reuse it in another pin. I make a lot of my own mods, and don't attach the cost to the pin. It's mostly "curb appeal" and I like to make my pins unique.
