    Quoted from Crumbalimb:

I just read from knapparcade their is a strong rumor pirates us going to be remade and announce at TPF. If it’s true it shows you what I know “nothing “ lol.

The same people have been declaring that a remake is around the corner for years now. I used to be one of them. Some of this wishing seems more focused on making the owners 'pay' for their arrogance than getting games in people's hands. (How about getting the price down on all of these $15k+ Stern Premiums and LEs too while you are at it? I'd like an EHOH) The listing on the JJP website is the reason for the new rumor? That was brought up before and Pirates has been listed that way for a long time. It's not like they just added it, because that would be cause to raise some eyebrows. It's more like they haven't bothered to put resources into changing how it's listed in some parts of the site. A remake is always possible, but I don't see a reason to expect it to happen.

    Quoted from Crumbalimb:

Pirates will only go up in value over the years because they will never make more.

I've heard that a LOT over the years. My favorite example was when I was present years ago while a Medieval Madness sold for what I thought was an obscene amount of money, which was before the top of the market. When I was talking to the person who sold it, I was curious how he could get so much for it. He said "Well, they can't make more, so the ones that exist will be the only ones ever!".

I've seen it from Stern as well. Way back, they called it "another run". Later, they called it a Vault Edition. But sure as I'm sitting here typing this, manufacturers can always make more.

Pirates is a prime example of games that will be remade. It is popular enough, and the price is high enough, that JJP could run more and cash in on that. They will sell enough based just on flippers who think they might make a few bux on it. The GNR backlog and supply chain are the only thing standing between the market and more Pirates. It may take a long time, but there will be more.

And if anyone needs to respond with "Jack said blah blah blah", I will respond with Gary saying the same thing, until he didn't.

Pretty credible source said no Potc in near future (2022) for what it’s worth.

Remember when CGC remade MM because the price started to approach $15K for an original. Man, sure glad they made MM - the prices came crashing down to earth!

    pasted_image (resized).png

Oh...well...um....thankfully the remake is cheaper cause everyone wants an original...!

    pasted_image (resized).png

Wait, that's the LE....thankfully the classic addition is cheaper...!

Well, um.....yeah so much for that. Making more of a game doesn't guarantee jack in terms of prices. We are in uncharted territory, and so far all this community has done is proved what they will really spend to get what they want. Right now.

I'm sure prices won't go up when Stern releases their August title.

The only reason I ended up owning an original AFM was because CGC remade it. I easily could have bought a reasonably priced MM as well, but I’ve never liked the game that much.

Just because prices for every game are through the roof right now doesn’t mean prices didn’t drop into a normal range years ago when the remade them.

Sigh…. Hey Stern, please ship my Godzilla before you raise prices again. If you don’t, then so help me, I’ll pay more. Crap, I’m the problem. Sorry everyone.

    Quoted from NorCalRealtor:

the batshit prices sellers are asking for Pirates will crash if it gets remade

I agree on batshit prices but a permanent crash is not a certainty.

It really depends on the price of the remake and the potential reduction of features.

JJP isn't going to reproduce it for the original price (and possibly not with all the features like the rocking ship.)

Earlier run WOZ games have benefited from the higher priced remakes.

I almost did this same deal 3 months ago, glad I did not as I have been offered just under 20k for my NIB Zil.

I would trade it even up for one at this point.
