Do any of you guys have a door in your lineup? This area from the arcade to High Speed is the designated, wife approved pinball space. I have a large door that I can't block in the middle. For those of you with a similar setup, do you decorate the door? What would you guys recommend?

I have door in my game room... I decorated it with an Employee Only sign... went with the REAL Arcade feel...

I have a poster on my door but it is primarily decorated with a pinball machine that is blocking it. Lol... I have space issues! I just need to stay trim enough to be able to squeeze by.

What the ?! Is that your furnace entry or something ?

The left door is my water shutoff. The middle two doors are a closet, and the right door is the access to the main sewer line.

I think a pinball playfield attached to the door would look pretty awesome. Or Arcade marquees. I also like the employees only sign.

I have a door in the way on the back wall. Could easily get a game there.

Fire marshal has an attitude about blocking a fire exit. I pointed out if someone has a good game going, they aren't leaving anyway. Even in a fire.

    He wouldn't change his mind.

I've had the poster forever and honestly forgot where I got it from. I just did a quick search through my email found that I won it from a local magazine contest 12 years ago! I had seen it at the Madison Film festival that year.

I have at least four windows blocked and that's just on one wall, and another one "blocked" with a stained glass. As for doors, there not blocked but they are decorated and still functional, space is at a premium so I do what I can. In some cases I like to have the door's hidden so that you don't even know they are there, can you find them?

Yes, I did this on one door. Made a door handle out of a Bally shooter rod, works great.

Theme your door. Search door decals.

Maybe an airlock or something like that.

One door has a full size decal, the other side has my high scoreboard.

Other door has EM arcade flyers printed from the flyer archive.

What about attaching a full-size mirror to your door? Kinda like a six-foot mirror blade. It would make it look like you have a whole 'nother gameroom on the other side of the wall.

    #39 4 years ago

Thanks for the ideas! I think i'll paint one of my doors with chalkboard paint for a high scores

    #40 4 years ago

I'm getting all envious now going through here. I need to document the areas I play. Most are public. I would really like to open something special in oc ca someday.

My dream would be a hotel, plus arcade. The Bodak hotel...

You would stay at my hotel when you come to Los Angeles or Disneyland. I will open it, and die trying to perfect it.

See you there. In ten years.

This closet door has been blocked for some time - my upcoming solution is to take it out which will get me a little more circulation space. I'll patch the wall outlets where a TV was mounted at the same time. Who needs closet storage when you can store under the pins anyway

I would suggest not trying to draw attention to the door and instead, just paint it to blend into the wall. The door should be same color as the wall, trim and all. Done. Next.

Thank you all for your excellent advice. I have decided to take the simplest solution to give the area a true arcade feel and have elected to install an "Employees Only" sign on my door. You can play my pins, but stay out of the back room!
