Trying to fix a display for my recently acquired World Cup Soccer which shows a missing column at position 28. I thought I would check the naked contact on this column number and use some conductive epoxy but then was surprised not find a "pin"style display but rather one from Cherry that uses a flat ribbon cable. I checked and replaced the 22k resistor but no difference whatsoever. This model makes it also difficult to reach the solder side of the board due to the display being fixed by a lateral piece of plastic that seems to be glued to the board itself. So I wanted to first figure out where to intervene before taking all apart! . thanks!

Fair enough.. but in the meantime I wouldn't mind getting it repaired.

The reason why it’s worth a shot is that beside the single missing column, everything else is fine.. including the charge. It is bright from the start.
