i had the same problem, and it turned out to be a bad ribbon cable. try wiggling the cable and see if it helps. i had to unplug the cable from the MPU side and attach it to the dmd, and take the dmd side and put it on the MPU( flip-flop the ends) and its been working fine since. good luck!
