So I am relatively new in the Hobby and like everyone else the bug bit be bad. I was convinced that I would only enjoy dmd games so that's all I have ever owned. That all changed when I spent the weekend playing early SS games. Specifically fathom. Whilst I still love DMD games and recently obtained my Grail. I am now confident I will get an early SS game next. Some games I fell in love with
    Flash Gordon
    Fathom
    Black knight
    Medusa
    Fireball 2

Try Flight2000 and Space invaders, great games. Ramp games deliver the ball softly to the flippers, not much challenge there. DMD's stop the flow of the game play. I know this will offend the people who have spent thousands on one game but its my opinion based on comparing the older games to the newer ones. John

Agree to disagree. While there are some older games that will last in a home environment a modern DMD or LCD game typically will have WAY more to do over the life of the game. The rules on non DMD games cannot hold a candle to a new masterpiece like WOZ, LOTR , ACDC

I do agree that the more complex rules of DMD games are great I just no longer have the mindset that DMD automatically is better. Don't get me wrong I own LOTR and it will probably always be my favorite game

Funhouse has no dmd and is one of the best games ever.

WOZ is currently my favorite game, and it doesn't have a DMD either.

A good game is a good game no matter when it was made.

I think Big Game by stern is a masterpiece as far as 1980 is concerned. EBD is in the same category. I also think LOTR is top shelf as well.

Amazing games can cross all eras, just depends on your expectation and how you look at it.
