I'm planning on adding some toys as mods to my new Star Wars machine. I'm curious what kind of wire I should use - gauge and type of wire - to attach the toy to the machine? I've thought about getting steel wire and bending it or using the wire used for hanging pictures. But I'm not sure if there's a better option or how thick of a wire I need to use since it doesn't need to support much weight.
    Any help is appreciated.

No clue, but I think 16 gauge rebar tie wire would work. Whole rolls are less than $10.

Hey man, did you get an answer to this question? I’m looking to add futures to LOTR and GOTG. If you did this, what gauge wire and do you have pics? I know there was someone that said they used wire from meta hangers.

Most people use PIANO WIRE to create gate wires and switch actuators. I think Marco sells 4 different thicknesses by the foot. The reason piano wire is used is it maintains its shape/bends once put in place. It springs back into original shape if compressed. It is quite strong and stays exactly as you made it originally, within reason.

If you have a Hobby Lobby nearby they sell music wire packs, it's cheap and works well for ball gates. The thinner stuff should work to hold figures. My local rc plane/hobby shop also has this but it's a lot more expensive there.

You could go buy a set of nickel plated guitar strings at a music store and have a variety of gauges to play with.
