I was lucky enough to snag an 8ms 15.6 monitor for $4.99 + $20 shipping.

I just ordered the DMD extender + Install Kit for $121 (shipped to U.S.)

Now I'm trying to purchase the Raspberry PI - It appears that the link for the model A on the first page is "out".

Would this Raspberry PI Model B work?

Quoted from liorillusion:

you have a luck!

My luck goes beyond just a laptop LCD w/o controller....

I got a desktop LCD monitor - Controller is included - I can gut and mount it as needed.

I have a spare power and VGA cable - It works great as is.

These are kinda Uber-Rare. They didn't make them very long, and even the virtual pin people were going nuts trying to find these a couple years ago. Lucky for me the ebay market was recently flooded with 16ms 15.6" refurb (or return from lease) right at the same time that this one went for auction. I've searched for these on occasion (once every couple months) without any luck - until I seen this flood of 16ms ones come up. I was afraid that the 16ms ones might be like Crash's first vid - ghosting... This 8ms one just flew under the radar.

The LCD/Controllers don't seem to specify any kind of response time. Maybe they are listed on the original model laptop? IDK, but I'm happy with 8ms....

My only concern now is that it's a 768 not 1080. I wouldn't think its a problem, but if it is, then I'll have to work out something else.

Revision B - Ordered...

LCD = 25
DMD extender = 121
Rasperberry PI = 37

Total Now: $183

I ordered a ($4.25) HDMI to VGA converter from China on 6/18 after reading Snux's post....

I received the Extender today, but I'm still waiting for the converter

I am test driving the hardware/software with a 23" LED Monitor (2ms, IIRC ) and it seems to have the same minor lag that was seen on Crash's video. I even noticed the same lag on the pc, using the provided software in preview mode...
It's definitely not that bad, not a deal breaker, but I was hoping for lag free horizontal scrolling.

I got the color scheme all worked out - can't wait to finish up

The bundled software allows you to create a preview in a .BIN format. You can then adjust your colors while playing back your recording.
This simplifies the color selection process.
After I got my colors picked I used another screen capture (HyperCam2) software to record the playback.
I didn't want to cutoff any of the pixels, so that's why there is a little bit of blue (windows) frame

I just finished setting up a new arcade cabinet with PinballX and Visual Pinball (which now has the colorized pixels like the DMD Extender). After going through all the different tables, I've come to 1 favorite colorized game - ROCKY & BULLWINKLE!
I don't have an R&B, but if I did, I'd switch my JM setup with it in a heartbeat!

SKIP to 3:45, to see R&B in action
