I saw this while searching for bingo machines today. The cabinet, playfield and backglass looks like a Dixieland except the name. Anyone know why? I don't see a Bowl-A-Line listed in my 2012 Mr Pinball guide.

This machine backglass was a replacement or after-market backglass with a different name. This was sometimes done to circumvent local restrictions on games. A list of illegal games was used by enforcement officials and if the game was not on the list it was not bothered.

In this specific case, the Operator used a razor blade to remove the "Bally Dixieland" name and replaced it with a film type material that says Bowl A Line. It was likely clear taped in place although some actually had them screen printed onto the scraped glass area.

Yep, MrBally and Vic_Camp are correct.

Spoke with an operator yesterday that never razored a glass to make changes, but put the decal on the front of the glass. Surprising, but reversible (never caused him a problem).

But MrBally is correct about the method for this one.
