We've been members since 2006 when we purchased at Saratoga Springs, and more recently we added on some resale points at Hilton Head Island. If we were to tally up the rack rates of all the rooms we've stayed in over the years, our membership paid for itself quite some time ago. That being said, at today's price-per-point, I'd have to do some major staring at spreadsheets to make sure it made sense -- it was way cheaper back when we bought in.

As for availability, we've never had much of an issue with the exception of the smaller resorts (which is why we added on Hilton Head points, for the home resort advantage). We've actually only stayed at Saratoga a handful of times, and we've tried them all. We finally completed our DVC bingo card last year when we stayed at Vero Beach.
