I am not wearing a mask period for anyone or anything. So stupid. if someone request a mask they lose my business. I am tired of this game.

I think they should have to do what they said and close the rest of the year and lose all that revenue. They should have kept their mouth shut and waited a few weeks to see this thing was not a world killer.

Might as well cancel because it will be required.

If masks are required, I'm out. No way I'm vacationing in Florida and having to wear a mask. Heat and humidity, discomfort, stupid tan lines, lousy vacation pictures. No way. I'll go when everything is back to normal. If it never gets there, I guess I just never go back. And I have been to WDW probably for 6 or 7 one week visits over the last 10 years or so. But I have a vision of what the Disney experience should be, and has been in the past. And I'm just not willing to accept anything less.

We will know in 14-30 days how these soft openings work at the parks. Plenty of guinea pigs to test this stuff out.

I am thinking of booking a late July trip. We just bought into DVC, so figured what the hell.

Wearing a mask while running? Forget it. Just not feasible. Look at the marathon this year, I was soaked by mile 3. By mile 6, I was completely drenched. People were falling over during the marathon...that's without a mask making it harder to breathe.

If you asked me, as of now, I can't see Disney going through with the Wine & Dine races. Those are at normal capacity. Marathon weekend is at greatly reduced capacity...Marathon/Goofy/Dopey do not sell out in minutes.

There will be plenty of Disney face masks "Themed" masks on carts outside park to buy at inflated prices.
Im looking forward to buying an Incredibles mask. Do a Disney stock quote search. Plenty of articles from Monday talking about masks till at least spring 2021.

It's really no big deal if we can't go this coming summer. Although it sounds like the crowds would be nice. Southwest is allowing cancellations credits to work through the end of 2022, the park tickets that i have can have their date shifted to next year and my dvc points can just be rolled over to the next year.

If the trip happens, great. If not, we try next year.

Its really quite a mess at Theme Parks, behind the scenes, with Furloughs, and even many in Full time Management being let loose. There is consolidation, and Trimming, all the way through Marvel in NY offices, to CA and Florida.
Its not a pretty picture, as I hear from family and friends on the inside. Even these executives are unsure of their future.
Regardless, the front image, the Parks, the Experience, many different ideas are being explored.
Like Disney China with masks, the Parks are requesting them, but Politics has polarized this.

Here in Florida, we are all watching, as others have said, who will be the guinea pigs to test safety.

Yes, since our stay was at Pop Century, we'll get 2 Quick Service Meals and snacks for every day of our trip. They were doing this for anybody who rescheduled a trip as a result of the park closure as long as they rescheduled by the end of May and took a trip by September 8th. So our stay is starting on September 8th.

Glad my first experience at Disneyworld was pre-pandemic panic in Febraury. Was hard for the wife to get me to go the first time. Wouldn't even consider it now, sounds way too lame.

We just booked restaurants Monday morning (180 days out) and arrive Nov 7th. We have no idea what is going to happen in 6 months but we have to plan like we're going. One question I haven't seen answered....how do they have reduced capacity (say 50%) if the hotels are filled to say 75%? How do they choose who gets in? Waiting in huge cues outside the parks before rope drop isn't a feasible option. I'm hoping people are scared (and there isn't a big outbreak) in November and we have the park to ourselves.

People staying on grounds get priority. Also there's not nearly enough on site hotel rooms to fill all four parks at the same time. Even at 1/3 capacity, you are looking at 15000-20000 people per park with four parks (I will assume the water parks will stay closed longer). Your early November time frame usually is a nice time to go. I've been down there a couple times around then and it's been fairly nice (crowd size and weather). Who knows how it will be after this craziness

Restaurants? The food and wine festival is the way to go for dinner every night.

I TOTALLY agree with this. We booked California Grill for a fireworks time and my wife really wants to go to Jiko. We also booked Rose and Crown for Harmonious.

We originally booked that time because of the weather and crowds. No telling what it will be like now if they are even open. Fingers crossed it's open and empty.

How could anyone enjoy Disney World wearing a face mask for the entire duration. Especially in the middle of a muggy summer? I can’t stand wearing one longer than it takes to go grocery shopping.

2019 Wine & Dine races was the first time I was ever there for the food and wine festival. Naturally, I had no idea what it was when I was there. I thought it was something like cooking classes. My last day there, I was in Epcot and I finally realized what it was!!!! I stuffed my face for the next 5 hours before I had to leave to the airport. Go back to April 2019, and I was there for the Flower & Garden festival and I had no idea they had the food locations there as well.

Now I know going forward.

Yeah, food booths around World Showcase are almost a year-round thing now. Besides those two, there's the Festival of the Arts in Jan-Feb and the Festival of the Holidays around... the holidays.

Does anyone know what Disney will be doing with the AP bee magnet for flower and garden festival?

My wife and I are taking our daughters and our 4 nieces and nephews to Grand Floridian at Disney World in mid July. As long as they’re open, we’ll be going.
It’s good to have something to look forward to, masks or no masks.

Apparently, they have canceled bookings for the first week in June.

I wonder how long people will put up with this stuff. I feel like few people are really worried about getting the virus now that we have a better handle on actual mortality rates. My wife works at a senior living facility in Los Angeles and they haven't allowed visitors in months, and the families have had enough. They want to see their family and they don't care about the virus anymore.

If there's one thing they shouldn't do, it's that they shouldn't let families into those facilities unless you're going to pull your elder out of there permanently. It is just way too risky for the patients and staff to let anyone in. Just one person with it could set off a chain reaction through the whole thing.

I would agree that few people are worried, but they should be. They went from too worried to not worried at all, too far the other way. It needs to settle in the middle with everyone wearing masks and being respectful of others. The problem is that too many people still think it's the flu death rate.

I think I probably disagree with you on how serious it is, but I do agree that senior homes are among the places that should be taking precautions and taking the most extreme measures. My point is that even the people that should be the most concerned don't seem to think it's worth it. If it was me and I was in my last years, I don't know if I'd want to be under house arrest indefinitely, away from my family. I might think it's worth the risk to have more of a life while I'm still alive.

Regardless of what political side you're on, the math does not lie. .14% of the entire state of New York has passed away (and still climbing). So unless you think the entire state has had it, that's pretty concerning from a death rate perspective. If the entire US got infected in the same manor as New York, that's 460,000 people.

I don't think it's north of 1% or anything overall for the general public. But it spreads rapidly and puts a large number in the hospital. Enough that care should be taken not to spread it if it all possible.

Does the math lie though? Where is that 0.14% number coming from? And is it based on population data from the last census 10 years ago? I know the governor of New York released antibody study data a month ago showing that the infection rate at the beginning of April was insanely high. Over 20% in New York city, and they said it could be possibly higher because they only tested people in public places like grocery stores. That was a month and a half ago, so the numbers would only have gone up since then. The lack of testing capacity, the fact that some people are asymptomatic, and some people never get it bad enough to get tested or go to a hospital has skewed the statistics. The bottom line is that yes... A huge percentage of new York has been infected, so while it's unfortunate that the are so many deaths, I think realisticly the death rate is under 0.5 percent, and virtually 0 for anyone without an underlying illness that isn't elderly. Serious enough to take precautions at health care facilities and senior homes, but shut down the world, hamstring the economy and blow up the national debt? Way too far in my opinion.

My parents are quite concerned about this virus, thank you very much. So is my boss (he’s 67). Every older person I know seems to care about this a lot. It’s fine that some don’t, but that’s really irrelevant. Personal “freedom” only goes so far in this case, and nursing homes have proven to be massacres waiting to happen. If you need to see your folks that bad, Pull them out of the nursing home and set them up in your home.

Yes, my wife only made the reservation a few days ago when Disney World announced they would be opening in
July. She was told that we would receive a letter with our magic bands and an email outlining what the rules and restrictions will be in place due to the virus. Of course, there are no guarantees and the reservations could be canceled by Disney at any time.

A couple of the kids we’re taking missed out on a prom and a real graduation so whenever Disney does open up, we will do our best to get them there.

If it was 1 degree hotter they were going to cancel it. I believe it was 83 and 84 was the cut off. It wasn’t the most fun race ever. I’ll say that.

Oh this scares me. Senior facilities are perfect for spreading the virus through the most vulnerable population. My girlfriend works in a SNF, and once the virus gets in the door, people die. You say people want to see their family so bad that hey don’t care about the virus, but I ask how will 15-20% of them feel after their parents died? How will you feel when your wife gets it? How will your wife feel when a staff member dies? How will she feel as 2-3 patients a day die from it?

None of that is hyperbole. None of that is rumor. None of that is political. I’m stunned people don’t understand how serious this is in places where the most vulnerable people live. Does it suck that people can’t directly visit their loved ones? Yup. But it is a lot better than watching them die while you still can’t be there. It’s really important to remember why they closed the doors to visitors.

It wasn't the temperature as much as it was the humidity. When the race started, it was 95%. When I cross the finish line, it was at 92%.

And the full sun didn't help either...forecast called for clouds...they were out there, just not over Disney. Let me tell you, the cold Hershey Kisses at mile 23 were the best tasting candy ever!!!!

Did you make it through Blizzard Beach? I was a few minutes away from making the turn to head there, when they modified the course.

Did you do the 2019 Marathon? That one was a hot one too. 95% humidity at race start, but it quickly fell once the sun came up...it's just that it was full sun blasting us the whole time.

You're right, data doesn't lie but it is easily manipulated. FL's death % is much much lower than NY with almost the same population. Obviously NY made a lot of errors and this information is starting to come out.

I’ve run the wine and dine half for the last three years, got into it by accident as we started going for Halloween with the kids. Finished respectively all three years.

It was last year they were going to cancel if it was 1 or 2 degrees warmer. I believe one person died in the 5k and another in the 10k in 19 too because of temperature.

There was no heat advisory for the wine and dine races. There was one for Marathon Weekend’s half and full.

I believe the hottest half marathon was Princess 2019. I had heard it was around 95 for it.

Anyone make their park reservations?

What a disaster on Monday. I have an annual pass, plus 2 different hotel reservations. The system would only let me book 3 total days. I tried all day to get through on the phone, but kept getting circuits busy. Luckily, Tuesday morning the system worked correctly, and I was able to book all my parks.

Even just trying to log on Monday. I think the system went active around 7am. I couldn't get through on my computer until about 3pm.

I'm a little disappointed with my November trip. Thursday - Monday. Thursday - Sunday is Epcot, Monday is Magic Kingdom. No park hopping allowed. Ugh. My initial plan was to be in Epcot every night for dinner at the Food & Wine Festival, while doing a different park during the day. Now, I'll just have to do Epcot that many days in a row to experience all the different delicious foods.

Monday was definitely a mess. I had three different devices running trying to get in. We got our park reservations all set up with all the on the days we wanted to go. We’re going this summer though. We’re hoping even if Florida is a disaster, when we get inside Disney property we shouldn’t have a problem social distancing and staying safe.

I've got a hotel reservation but didn't make any park reservations yet. Leaning toward cancelling. I really like going to the parks at night. The short park hours are not for me.

On the other hand, it would be nice to get to the parks. So I'm still a bit undecided.

If my races are canceled, then I’m canceling.
