Hi gang, i have to disassemble a TAF to get it downstairs into a customers cellar .
Question: Is it difficult to get all the harness out of the backbox and so on and remove the
backbox and the playfield?
And put it later on back in its place?
I have never done this in over twenty years.
Thank you

It's not something that will take 5 minutes but it isn't hard at all.

Don't do it unless you absolutely have to.

But, assuming there is no other choice:

Label EVERY single connector, one at a time, as you remove them.

You only need to remove connectors to cables that go from inside the cabinet to the backbox

Drop the cable bundles into the cabinet.

Don't forget to disconnect the ground braid (s).

Remove the backbox wing bolts

Unbolt the 4 bolts that connect the head to the side hinges

Secure the hinges to they don't scratch up the cabinet decals if possible.

Replace the DMD/speaker panel and close the backbox light board and take off the head

Don't drop it.

Move the game and then reverse the process.

(Did I forget anything?)

I've done this with TAF. Not hard but it takes time. I ran into some unexpected things like some connectors soldered directly to pins on boards in the backbox which slowed me down. You should not have to remove the playfield! Label all connectors carefully and take pictures.

Wasn't bad at all. It was easier than my IJ and TZ were.

I have done that with my TAF and RS. Not hard at all.

Label and take photos--both overall shots and close-ups. There might be a couple of connections that could fit in multiple spots and lead to unhappy results if they're plugged in to the wrong place.

Not a big deal at all, just allow more time than you think and check to be sure there are no hacked repairs which have wires soldered directly to the boards! If have not done it in a while, take a few pics.

It took less than an hour .
Easy job.
Thanks to all for encouraging me .
