Quoted from dannunz:

Just changed out and put in all new coil stops and sleeves. Wow what a difference that makes. Now I can make the rt ramp on a regular basis. the game has crazy flow with strong flippers.
What is the 30 sec. 500m left ramp keefer is talking about?

Not sure. My best is 5.1 billion and change, but I don't remember ever hitting a 500 million ramp shot.

#53 11 years ago

Picking a DH up on the weekend can't wait to play it whenever I feel like it. Its a great game and under rated.

#54 11 years ago

1. Shoot left ramps until you're maxed (captain?).
2. Left ramp now scores 50M until end-of-ball.
3. Light multiball.
4. Collect magazine award of playfield promotion.
5. PP depends on your rank, and will be 5x because you're captain.
6. Start multiball via left ramp.
7. Enjoy 500M left ramp shots until PP goes away.

If you start multiball via right ramp, then you're "only" getting 450M/left ramp (jackpot 20M instead of 25M).

Thank you keefer

This is funny. I can make the left ramp maybe 2-3 time sin a row and forget about the right one unless the shot is dead on. This game is brutally unforgiving in regards to hitting ramps

#57 11 years ago

Speaking of ramp shots. How do you guys set yours up?

Is it better to have it set steep or do you set it normal. Just curious how to get a little less bounce back off the ramps or have the ball make it up them

#58 11 years ago

Rebuild your flippers. I have no problem making both over and over.

#59 11 years ago

Flippers are rebuilt. I even change a coil out for upper right and then changed it back. I think its a pitch thing right now as I moved the game out and could make the shots and then put it back in and am having trouble.

So do you have yours set steep?

#60 11 years ago

I love my DH, decked out with Cointaker LEDs and Pro Pinball sub & speakers. I even added the city skyline decal to the backboard. Looks so good, I forget that it wasn't a stock item.

I have it set steeper than factory.

#62 11 years ago

hmm maybe mine is not steep enough. I guess the steeper it is the more acceleration on the ball the easier the ramps. Though on the left ramp we are doing a 50 degree change in direction.

Anyone know enough physics to figure out optimal pitch to make the left ramp shot?

#63 11 years ago

I have mine set up with minimum incline. If I make it any steeper, the ball seems to tend to roll out of the gun prematurely much more often.

The LEDs make a huge difference in the machine. Much nicer to look at (though I never did figure out how to replace the flasher in the warehouse…).

I LEDd the inserts and thing it's a lot better...left normal GI though.

Oh yeah the warehouse has to come completely off to replace it...not the easiest game to break down. Not the worst by far...but not simple.
White flasher LEDs don;t look any differrent to me though so I wouldn't worry aboot it.

#65 11 years ago

The safehouse has the Cointaker flasher, and I like it better than the warehouse. But yeah, it's a barely noticeable difference. Unlike the inserts, which are a huge improvement over incandescent. Absolutely love the look, made the machine feel brand new.

Now, I'm looking into replacing all the coil stops and sleeves. Never replaced those before, going to have to Google the procedure. Hoping it is the solution (and not my grevious lack of skill that keeps me from consistently hitting that damn left ramp).

Very easy to do. Remember you most likely won't need to replace the stop unless it's mushroomed...usually just a sleeve should do it.

#67 11 years ago

Mine were mushroomed and once I changed them out and put new sleeves it made a big difference.

dfsays where did you get the skyline decal. JD and DH are my two dmds I have too, I guess putting bad guys away fits got my two without trying to get themes the same..

That's where I got my skyline decal. Crazy fast shipping and an excellent product. I can't imagine my DH without it

Here's the review that helped me decide to pull the trigger:

Funny we both own JD and DH. They've been pretty strong pins so far, with random weird things happening. Right now, I'm getting an error on JD with swith 68 (one of the meltdown switches) and the ball launch trough sometimes doesn't recognize the balls and requires a reset, but usually only during Supergames, which I don't tend to play much, unless I have kids and family over.

But, get that DH skyline, you won't regret it!

I just picked up a Dirty Harry and agree with all the positive statements here. Such a good game with some awesome sounds and lights. I have white in the magazine but blue in the bullets.. only because I ran out of whites, but it looks pretty cool with the blues as bullets.

#71 11 years ago

Thanks for the info. A good price on the decal too, hope the shipping reasonable to Canada.

#72 11 years ago

I contacted Treasure-cove and was only $13 for shipping to Canada so have me a DH backboard decal heading my way.

#73 11 years ago

Mine already had the decal installed and it's nice. Mine also has some bulbs coming out of the backboard near the top and wired to the lanes up top that are hard to see...above the bumpers.

Ooh,that's my thread.

The only problems I have with DH are sometime the ball dribbles from the gun... Even after pulling the wireform feeding it tight towards the back of the playfield (to create a lip).

And sometimes with strong shots to the right ramp the ball hops and come back out.

Mine does this as well. Doesn't seem to be a factor of incline more than the gun tends to stop at different positions when swinging. I haven't looked into the cause as it doesn't bother me enough to take the game down to disassemble the gun...but just one of the items to look into when I shop it next.

This game is great fun and very challenging . I have had one for 2 months and play it every day in a 10 pin collection. I bought it to flip or trade and now i like it as much as some A titles.

Great game, midnight rampage is great fun but can also be annoying. The rampage scores are included on top scores. Abit of an unfair advantage and I'd be happier if all midnight rampage scores were excluded from top scores. Or have a high score for rampage only and non rampage scores

We all know that everything on Earth is both underrated and overrated.

DH I think is rated just fine though. It's a decent game (are there really any bad WPCs?) but it's missing some things.

For one it's just too easy. Really easy. The game is not very challenging. This - added in with a fairly uninspired ruleset - means it gets old before too long for better players.

It also seems a little unfinished/unrefined. It's got some cool animations but the game never pauses to let you look at them. The gun/cannon doesn't seem too thought out, as it doesn't add much to the game. Seems like most WPCs have more interesting rulesets that get revealed over time - this one it's kinda what you see is what you get - start modes, chase points in modes (or don't) and take Multiball when it comes which happens pretty easily.

Artwork: I do think the game gets unfairly slammed here - next to most Stern movie licenses it's an absolute home run. Love the cabinets and colors, and the translite is cool too. Playfield art ain't the best but I don't hate it as much as others. And the game generally does an all-around good job of incorporating all of the films/eras.

And a shout out to Clint - I love his voice quotes and I think it's great that he's actually on the game. I'm sure we've all heard about how fabulous the original imposter quotes were but you gotta go with Clint.

Are you sure? I thought it was excluded from it? I may be thinking of another Midnight Madness on a diff'rent machine though.
