Quality is down, prices are high. I switched hobbies for a while and have had a great time, with much better value for money. Now getting back into pinball, and agree about paying for CEs if good, but I'm much fussier now, and Stern isn't exciting me right now, frankly. LZ vs GNR says it all. Not good enough, particularly at current prices.

It says it all when people hope their dream theme isn't made by Stern...

So everything is fine, then? The existence of this and other threads, and many many comments on this issue, suggests otherwise. I want Stern to succeed, and to improve, and make my constructive comments with this objective. I haven't bought a Stern for some time, but if you have, more power to you, brother.

I agree that everything needs to be good, gameplay as well as the art and code packages.

I'm glad Stern is successful, as we all want pinball to thrive and survive. But I won't be buying 'em. I guess the question is- HOW successful do they want to be? Everyone could be more successful...

    Quoted from dsmoke1986:

There is no problem, just stop buying Sterns. I’m done, too much quality coming out of other shop’s.
If you feel the same way, simply stop buying them.

I agree, and have stopped buying Stern. If they don't care, fine. I care as it's my wallet.

As I said, the question is- how big does Stern want to be? How successful and rich?

    Quoted from Reznnate:

I've got limited space and $. I'm looking for new games that are BETTER than what I've got. Stern's competition have been raising the bar, so I've been buying those instead.

Totally this. Stern is improving, but others are better. I want the best.

Just because Skoda is successful doesn't mean I don't want a Rolls-Royce Phantom instead, even if the Skoda has a Rolls-Royce bumper sticker.

Edit: I say this because I want more from Stern - I'm not hating on them. We all want pinball to thrive and succeed, as I said earlier! Given the much higher prices nowadays (remember Tron LE for 5k?), I think it's reasonable for consumers to be more demanding

Agreed. Value for money has declined sharply. This is a big part of the problem.

    Quoted from Galvez1978:

There comes a hard days for pinball in 2021, in Europe just put a new import taxes of a 25% and the new prices por pinballs are aprox:
    Stern:
    Pro: 7350€----8900USD
    Premium: 10000€----12000USD
    LE:12500€----15000USD
    Jersey:
    SE:9500€----11500USD
    LE: 12750€----155000USD
    This it's insane!!!!!!!!

Yep, US pinball sales are dead in Europe until this tariff ends. I had a recent console order from the US (Analogue.co), and all-in paid 50% extra (including 'usual' 20% import taxes). The 25% tariff is on goods value AND shipping cost, then the 20% is charged on THAT total. What a rip-off consumer tax

From a UK perspective, a mini-trade deal with the US is imminent which will END this (and other) tariffs here, presumably from 1/1/21 when we leave the EU single market. Together with removal of other EU protectionist measures, the UK might be buying a lot more from the US imminently, and hopefully in the other direction too

    Viva free markets!!
