Hi everybody,

Today, I completed my Diner. This is no high-end restoration nor high-end pictures. I'm just new to the hobby from about a year, very passionate and has some level of patience for these sort of things.

Got the game in very good shape, pretty much 100%, kinda clean where a rag can reach.

Did not take any reference pictures prior taking things off. It ended up being not that bad and I worked section by section.

Stripped the top side, polished and clean everything I could, replaced mismatched hardware or old screws.

Took the GI back to incandescent. To me, the theme calls for it.

Cleaned and re-varnish eject holes, special entry and shooter lane.

Painted lockdown bar, speaker, transfo and other various hardware

Hand polish of tons of stuff with Autosol, my new best friend for anything metal.

New parts:
Glass
Glass top trim
Coils sleeves
Coil wrappers
Flipper button switches
Pop bumper yokes
Starposts
Rubbers
Flipper mechs from old style to new style, coil stops, bushing.
Cliffys post sleeves, ramp and switch protector
Superbands
6-32 screws
Drop-down targets + decals
Nylon nuts
Shooter spring, tip, e-clip
Eject deflector
Various label decals
Coffee cup + decals
Chromed legs
Leg protectors and bolts
and a bunch or other things I don't remember.

What started as only repainting the cab black sections became a full cab repaint. What started as trying to retro-brite the coffee cup ended up taking at top side of...

Funny thing, the only thing I did not replace but wanted to is the damn cup. It's unavailable... I know PPS will get them some time.

My game was in a unplayable state for about 4 months.

Please browse through my entire album to see the process through, sorta. Also added a few pics as a sneak peek.

Cheers!

Looks good, Nice work.

Looks great! Has your wire ramp always been yellow or did you have that done?

#5 8 years ago

I believe the early games were yellow. Look at the flyer.

Beautiful job.

Ahh...

Yeah, it's an early production with yellow habitrail and Diamond Plated playfield.

It also had yellow legs but I think that was custom. That was too much yellow for me and I like factory setup better in any game. Got chrome legs instead.

I played a few games now and it's just great. Plays super fast. It feels like a brand new game I played at the expo the other day. Also, flipper rebuild and new cabinet switches makes a world of difference it seems.

Nicely done. I love Diner, someday I'll have one.

Just started tearing mine down. Can't wait to get it done!

Hey Leeb, if you need any tip in the middle of it, just let me know. I got to know her pretty well. : )

I do actually. How do you get that diverter out to remove the right ramp? Is there a C-clamp under the bracket on the bottom of the PF that you have to remove?

Thanks! Lee

I'd be theres a tiny eclip below the pf.

There is a plunger attatched to a metal ring. It has a set screw inside it (need an allen key). Undo the set screw and mind that the plunger will now come out. Then just lift the divert out through the top.

Nice work. The lighting on that game really pops.

Oops sorry, replied by PM before seeing those answers.

Got it, thanks!

The Diverter is held in place by the assembly below the PF. There is one Allen Screw that needs to be loosened and it will slide right out from the top..
