Doing my first ever playfield swap, been reading and following several of the guides here and it has made things less daunting but now I have run into an issue.

I was getting ready to begin the process of populating the new playfield (it's a donor from another Diner that is in MUCH better shape than the one I'm swapping out which was never cared for) when I noticed the screw locations for the wooden rails are slightly different on the new playfield vs the old one. Is this common?

Is the solution to drill new mounting holes as needed?

Regards,

Alberto

it happens. and there's probably a lot more variances to come. if you're sure you're installing them in the correct place and they still don't line up, drill the new holes in the rail, not the playfield. you don't even have to drill full holes. you can make a starter hole w a 1/32" or 1/16" bit, maybe half an inch into the rail. that should be enough to prevent splitting the rail.
