Yeah we’re a predominantly Mustang club. But many have other or multiple brands too.

LOL - similarly I own 2 Toyotas also. One of my best friends owns 3 mustangs and we josh each other about the Ford vs Chevy thing. Its all good. I have a metal pan under my Camaro in the garage. Because it sits inactive for long periods, the rear main seal leaks. Nothing short of another rebuild will fix it. So because I am devoting my time and money on Pinball these days, it mostly sits idle.

Ramps are on less wire forms. They’re still with plater.

GI tested and working.

Inserts all working too.

Just played this title for the first time. Didn’t care for it but man this looks nice!

#57 11 months ago

After adding all the little parts on after taking it off the rotisserie, it’s ready for a cabinet!

Had to install the rear saucer kicker, rear left ramp posts, diverter mechanism, hardware for cup, rear GI and flashers, solder, etc.

Do you like Taxi? If not I can see that. I find it a lot of fun. A little easier than taxi but still not an easy game.

#59 11 months ago

Fantastic restoration, kept me engaged from start to finish.
I’ve only ever played Diner digitally, but it’s a really fun game from what I’ve experienced!

Hope it gets plenty of plays.

#60 11 months ago

Thanks I sure hope they do play the heck out of it! Hope to get to testing tomorrow.

Crosses fingers that your testing goes better than mine did.

#62 11 months ago

Thanks buddy. Been there too so hope the same!

I was hoping to do some play testing but work problems over the weekend. I was able to make some progress getting ready.

The shooter rod (not from the current owner) was cleverly “modified” with a closet knob handle. This is a first for me. So I was out of spare shooter rods other than this WPC-95 so it will be used for testing until owner picks it up and we install a good one he has.

The other DumbAss GI relay boards installed. A new foot will be installed as one was broken. Had to dig but found a new one on my stash.

Playfield is in and all the new connectors have been installed.

Testing is complete. Had to tweak a few switches and replace one flakey extra ball insert lamp holder.

More testing to follow.

Yes tweaking and twirking playfield switches once installed is an art unto itself. Then those pesky lamp diodes and switch diodes. But there is a sense of satisfaction once you solve all the minor issues and it plays great. Enjoy!

#68 11 months ago

Just wrapping things up. Added some new cards.

Got the back box wiring redone and now all working with LED’s.

Did a vacuum and cleanup of inside.

Everything is adjusted and playing great!

Congrats on finally getting to play after all your hard work. What is next?

#70 11 months ago

I often look at projects like these and smile. Truly a huge accomplishment and the end result is beautiful! I also think it's noble (unselfish) to sink that kind of money into a machine that doesn't have an overly great resale value. Sometimes these things get so hammered there's no profit to restore and end up being parted out and lost forever. Well done sir!

Yes! It is a little funny missing the ramp wire form (still with plater) but it usually jumps on the one and drops onto the pop bumper and then on playfield so it kinda plays normal.

Next up is Taxi.

Thanks DumbAss for the great new GI relay boards.
[quoted image]

First off, great work. Wow! Looks terrific. I like how those purple sling plastics go now with the purple flipper rubber. And the rest of the lighting choices and rubber sleeve colours look great too.

I put a transparent red shooter rod knob on my game and thought it fit well with the overall look. My game has some bubbling mylar around the DINER letters and customer inserts and have been considering a playfield swap. I'll be coming back to your thread here a lot if I do.

One question about the replacement GI boards you got from DumbAss... are those available for sale somewhere? Like does he have a shop site with them listed? I had one on my Diner a little melty and then just noticed one is also a little beat up on my Cyclone. Thanks!

Thanks, I'll link the other Diner swap I did for Sethman as he came up with most all of the great color combos. The owner here liked them too so carried it along. As well as the red shooter knob works great. He has a lighted shooter rod so this one is just temporary. The "closet" knob that was on there was weird to use. https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/order-up-a-diner-playfield-swap

Best to message him as there's options, etc but here is where:
System 11 Relay board is C-11902-1 (5768-12221-00) or C-11998-1 (5768-12243-00).
Board is SYS-011-RLY.
Price is $10 individually or $5 with other (major) board purchase.

Impressive. I had no idea these boards were being recreated. I have a lot of reading to do in that thread!

I see the term "bare" board being used and not sure I know what that means? Does that mean the ROM chips and other components don't come with them but all the other smaller, generic items do? I'm not one to do much circuit board soldering, so anything I get would need to be plug and play (I can install game and sound ROMs and the like though).

That GI board price is rather good. I think they are close to $50 at Marcos.

Correct on bare. You supply the parts and solder. He also can sell assembled but that would be a contact him directly thing. And his workload… I also believe there’s some options too. Victor has great communication so send him a message.

The owners picked up the Diner and it’s on its way home. So this one’s a wrap! They dropped off the Taxi so that’s now in progress.
