I moved my game and noticed upon startup that the switch wasnt registering. I folded back down the head and found the switch terminals all mangled up and touching. The back box wiring must have tangled up. Anyway the switch works with a DMM. Could I have blown the chip that feeds this switch? I figured a chip would take out more than one switch

I'd check continuity of wiring from switch to board in the head, I'd suspect a break before board damage by your description.
