I’m still in for one as long as they are exact to the original.

I am still in for one.

Grrr ... So sorry for resurrecting this thread too soon. Let me get everything figured out before I go any further with this. Feel free to keep PM'ing me, but let me get my ducks in a row.

#105 4 years ago

I'd be up for one. Thx.

#107 4 years ago

Count me in. The old cup really looks bad on my new playfield with new plastics.

#108 4 years ago

I don’t want to rain on your parade but I just received a PO from PPS for a new injection mold to be made for the cup. Details in the diner club thread.

Well after seeing this PPS has canceled the PO for the injection mold build that my shop was going to do, they would of been a exact build off the original drawings that I already had drawn in CAD and was about to start. Going out the window is a high quality injection molded polycarbonate that would of been available for many years to come and in many colors and for a price of $59
I tried but PPS would like to invest the dollars in other repro projects. Sorry guys but more to come!

This is beyond tragic. We need this commissioned mold done for PPS. It insures long term supply and availability, not to mention the additional color options.

I give props to anyone undertaking a project like remaking a prior part. The time, effort, cost to mold and create. But when the initial was slated to be $75 and finished product ends up being $195+ shipping I’m out.

I could’ve bought 3 from PPS and still been ahead. pin-pimp please let Rick know we want you to go forward making your mold.
I’ll put a deposit on 2 cups @ $60 each if he needs. Clear and white if possible. Thank you.

I am sorry some people feel this is expensive but the original guy who started this thread is a great guy was gonna make them with a friend in his garage and did not realized what it was gonna take in time, material costs etc. he was just trying to take a educated guess. He really didnt want to do them and was fed up because no body was doing it and I was in the same boat .So I called him and let him know I had things in motion already and he was happy . I can promise you I am not getting Rich of these cups. I wanted to make these for cheaper but it didnt happen that way most companies dont even want to get involved with such little jobs. These cups are molded and are exact replicas that just take more time. To injection mold, the mold is I was quoted 15 to 25,000 and yes you can sell them for 75.00 so 2 things you have to look at 1 how many diner pins are left and 2 how long do you think its gonna take to get your return on investment back. Rick/ pps are smart business people and realize that as well as I did. so I opted to go with less set up costs which is still thousands and a higher price per part so I could get this done because i believe your only gonna sell maybe 100 of these parts
Everything is more expensive these days and you can't get things done for 59 dollars.
if we could go back in time we would all buy the top shelf pinball machines of 2 to 3 grand.
hope this helps Explanation for th diner owners. I just wanted one for myself and to help other diner owners

#114 4 years ago

Ouch, more than I expect as well.

Hopefully PPS changes their change their mind.

Should have waited for the PPS cup. A little extra time at this point is not a life and death situation.

pin-pimp In hind site, a few more updates to suppress competition would have been a good idea..

For the record, I can live with my cup being a little stained for 200 bucks. I too would take 2 at 60 apiece + shipping.

#116 4 years ago

my injection mold build was 16k
Too bad we couldn’t do this to provide long term parts

You should, and could still do your project.

#118 4 years ago

I had to guarantee a bunch
So I will have them for years to come

#119 4 years ago

It’s in PPS hands now. I just build molds but I think PPS will be moving on to new projects at this point. We have lots of things that need brought back to market

May I ask what process you used? From the photos they look injection moulded? How did you achieve this finish without injection moulding? They look great!

#121 4 years ago

They are poured into a mold , then hand sanded if needed to get out any imperfections
out then clear coated. its a process that in the end gave the best results and looks Awesome.

#122 4 years ago

Did PPS royalties also contribute to the high price?

#123 4 years ago

Following!

Stopped by Mike's this morning to pick up some parts and he showed me the progress of his Diner project. I'd like to see a video of the process of these being made because they look great!

#125 4 years ago

Well I am Glad to Announce that I spoke to Rick @ Planatary this Evening and We had a Really Nice Conversation. We have come to agreement on the decals for the Cup and he gave me the go ahead to have them made
So I can Now include them With the Purchase of the Cup at No Extra Charge. He will Not be making these Cups because I already have and he will be concentrating on other Projects
he wants to get done for the Pinball Community. I Just want to say thank you again to Rick !!!
Hope adding these will help some of people feel they are getting a little more Value for there
Purchase.

#126 4 years ago

When a mould costs like 20k do you really think your getting a cup for $75 lol that does not seam like a good business decision to me! Unless your making thousands injection moulding probably not best solution here.

#127 4 years ago

Received mine yesterday - looks great! And it was very well packaged, by the way. (It's not actually in the game yet since I'm working on a playfield swap.)
