I look to be joining very shortly.

#53 10 years ago

Add me to the group.

I've had my Diner for 4 years now.

By far, my favorite system 11 machine.

Now....if they can just get the mirrored backglasses made.

#54 10 years ago

My game was loaded up by another pinsider last night near Kansas, will be making its way through St. Louis this afternoon and I will be picking it up at CP Pinball this evening, hopefully back to the Hoosier state before sunrise depending on how long CP pinball sucks me in.

I miss this perhaps most out of all the machines I've sold. What a great game!

#56 10 years ago

got my diner cabinet almost done.

Very nice cabinet on there! I locked out and found one with the Diamond Plate Playfield and yellow wire form....anyone know how many of these there actually are?

Ok what is typically considered a good score on Diner? I just put up 30+ million and feel good about myself but I'm guessing that's nothing in the scheme of things.

#59 10 years ago

I am really happy with anything over 10 million. My top is 17, so, 30 is amazing!

#60 10 years ago

My tops is ~26m, on 5-ball.
30 on 3 would be epic.
-mof

#61 10 years ago

It was 30 on three ball. Sweet I feel good now. Got 21 the other night. Game is very addictive.

Edit: I did have extra balls on though.

I've "flipped" the score on my Diner several times so far.

What do you mean by flipped your score?

According to Mark Ritchie, 200 units or less.

This was my 1 score on Diner before I lost it to installing a remote battery pack.

I consider anything over 20 mill to be a good game.

I scored beyond 99,999,999

After that, the score starts at 0 again.

Not sure if this completely fits this thread but I always like good stories about aquiring rare pins and thought some others might as well. I had been looking for a minty Diner for years and never could find a really nice one for sale. About 4 years ago we pack up a bunch of bowlers and go to the Chicagoland show to set up our booth. This is not a pinball show but there are a few that show up there. As I am walking through the hall I see this mint Diner pin in a booth. I walk over to the booth and notice this game is the nicest original I have ever seen. Turns out it was HUO Prototype #2. Second one ever made and it was in pristine condition. Asking price was $4,500. I thought to myself, this is not the right venue to sell a game like this and I bet it's still sitting here at the end of the show and maybe I could make a deal later. I wait it out until Sunday and it's still there. I head out around noon to get lunch for the guys before we start breaking down the booth to go home and when I am pulling back in the parking lot I see the Diner on a dolly getting rolled to a truck. I'm thinking aw shoot, I missed it. As I got closer I noticed it was the guy that had the booth taking it back. I pulled up in my car and asked what he got for it. He said, "it didn't sell". I asked what he would take for it and he said $3,500. Now we are talking. I parked the car and asked him to open her up while I am trying to keep the drool on my face from being obvious. It' s just as mint on the inside so I am all in at this point and offer $3k. He comes back at $3,200 and I have prototype #2 in my collection. I have been offered $8,500 for the game but it's not going anywhere anytime soon. Lucky finds can happen anywhere!

As of Sunday afternoon, I am finally a part of this club. I feel like I looked a long time for this game (years). I answered an ad in late November and finally was able to get the seller to arrange for me to pick it up this past weekend. Yeah that's 4 months' worth of scheduling issues on the part of the sellers.

#71 10 years ago

Hey at least you got it, congrats.

Is Diner stencils or decals?

Diner was silk screened.

Diner was silk screened.

I spoke to a few Diner owners who mentioned that while that's true, the artwork is too detailed to stencil, so it requires custom decals.

Has anyone had these made up? Looking for a set...

But he may be able to make more, or could at least provide the files if others don't exist

You have silk screen and then you have silk screen stencils which is a totally different process.

Nothing requires custom decals if you have a means of creating silk screens and nothing is too detailed to stencil.

My first game a Dinner bought from Betson distributing in southern Ca. for 900.00 what a dog i showed up and found that all the inserts people were worn out. Bought it anyway and had to Jerry rig decals because no inserts decal existed in those days lol. I since then bought a nice one for 250.00 from a operator. he told me it had major motherboard problems but it was just a bridge rec. NO PROBLEM FOR ME
Rob.

mof's correct, picked up a set from Kerry a couple years ago. He had a few extra custom sets for sale, jumped on the opportunity, they were really well done!!

Congrats on your High Speed acquisition mof! Good luck on your CPR playfield swap!

#86 9 years ago

I see someone's flipped the score; has anyone flipped the clock (13, 14, etc.) before collecting?
I'm assuming it's possible, but 'spot customer' awarding dinetime automatically gets me every time, and I'm not wanting to just take off the glass and test.

TY man, it's gonna be "exciting" to do my first one...

Could someone help me, just going through my Diner last night tweeking some things and noticed that wire gate switch at the cup entrance on top of the right ramp on my machine isn't doing anything. The switch is registering in test but does nothing in gameplay. I assume this is a flasher switch or sound effect switch gate but I'm not sure. Can someone trigger theirs and tell me what it does? Thanks!

So it looks like Diner is in the queue for Pinball Arcade. As an owner of Diner, this makes me happy. I'm curious how they will implement the Clock.

Marco sells a complete set if you are interested. $30. for all of them isn't bad considering. This way you have extra if any should break. http://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/31-1578-571

Hey fellow Diner Enthusiasts,

I have 3 sets of Diner cabinet decals for sale if anyone is interested. Sets are fully licensed and includes both full sides ( no need to paint black), 2 back box sides, and the front (coin door). They would be $240 plus shipping. Just PM me if you would like a set. Thanks !

Just found a nice diamond plate with yellow habit trail wire form. I'll have to try the nudging trick when the ball is in the cup. How do you determine if it's a prototype?
