Quoted from jwilson:

Anyone want to try this with a Zaccaria game? Whatever they used in Italy in the 70's would survive a nuclear war.

I'm surprised the BSD dimpled, because that wood is just older and dried out, as would the Zaccaria games would be. The only fair test, imo, is to test playfields from different manufacturers today, where the wood is around the same age.

Quoted from TimeBandit:

Under the apron on my Shadow. Before, and then after three separate ball drops. Let's just give this a rest FFS.

And some juicy super macro shots of the dimples. Horrific.

Thanks for your contribution to the thread. That is pretty conclusive.

Is it entirely possible we're seeing more dimple shots these days because people have better cameras in their pockets now? So they can get in close and take those photos, whereas in the not so distant past that was near impossible without high end camera gear?

I'm only going to worry about dimples when the craters become so big the ball doesn't have enough momentum to leave the crater and gets stuck in the middle of the playfield.
